Go to youtube and pull up Teddy Atlas prediction for the fight. He stated that Cotto was not the same fighter as before Margerito. He sees a fighter that is not sure of himself and once he gets hit, will he have a flashback to the Margerito fight. Same thing with Bernard go to youtube and get his prefight prediction. While Pac was in NY receiving an award was the same time as the Cotto and Clottey fight. It was during that fight that Pac and Roach wanted Cotto because they saw he was not the same fighter. Very few fighters are the same after taking a beating. Trinidad deystroyed David Reid. Saad Muhammad was never the same after Dwight Braxton. Davey Moore was never the same after Duran. George Foreman lost to a journeyman after Ali beat him. Meldrick Taylor was never the same after Chavez beat him. Even after Nigel Benn messed up Gerald McClennan, Roy Jones stated he had a hard time visiting him because it was a reality check because him and Gerald are good friends. What they mean by damaged goods is the fighter is not the same fighter as before.
Is this another one of those threads where the Floyd brigade uses Marquez as a reason for a 'Money' win over Pacquiao? Stop. Please stop. There's a difference between Marquez and Floyd. Marquez throws 3-4 punch COUNTER-PUNCHES on Pacquiao almost EVERYTIME. That video of yours shows it. Its how he gave Pacquiao hell because not only can he counter-punch, he can also match Pacquiao's punch output many times during the fight. THAT's how he was able to keep Pacquiao from overhwhelming him. It made Pacquiao tentative. Floyd, on the other hand, doesn't have the the same punch output as Marquez. How in the blue hell is he gonna keep Pacquiao off of him, if he only throws 1 or 2 punches at a time? Marquez =/= Mayweather. Get that through your skull. They're counter-punchers but that's the ONLY thing they have in common. And even then, the way the counter is different. Marquez = Mayweather is a GODDAMN MYTH.
dude, You haven't answered my question. how blind can you get by questioning pac fighting cotto instead of mosley?! i aleady answered you on that but i did not notice your reply on my question... Prior to his retirement, PBF has been WW for ages.. why was it pac who first fought a legit WW in the likes of Cotto while PBF has been WW for ages but there was no Cotto, Margarito, Mosley and PW in his resume?! Instead he fought a bloated 135pounder boxer who only had 2 fights under 135?! :bbb:hi:
So he should have fought an old Shane Mosley instead? You know damn well if Pac beat him people would come up with more excuses. Cotto was a much better opponent. He's still young, in his prime and he beat Shane Mosley. There's absolutely no evidence that Cotto was damaged goods. You're just saying that because Pacquiao destroyed him. If it was a closer fight, you'd be saying something else. Roach requested the catch weight because he wasn't sure how Manny would react against a big welterweight. It's pretty understandable when you put it into perspective. It's a moot point anyway since Cotto weighed 146 in his previous fight. 1 pound didn't do anything, in fact he looked in better shape then he's been in his past three fights.
You all can lie to yourselves why Pac did not fight Mosely. They took the easier fight (left handed fighter) style made for Pac. You evade the question and bring up Floyd. We all know how you feel about Floyd, however, quit using him to answer questions directed at Pac. So what if Floyd did not fight them, what does that have to do with what Pac is doing? I am a die hard Floyd fan however, I dont agree with some of the **** he does and will admit it. However, some of you Pac fans get emotional and on the attack if someone questions anything about Pac. If a fighter or announcer says something good about Floyd or give him credit, you discredit that person. On another site, Ricky Hatton stated that he believed Floyd would win. The statements made about Ricky by some of Pac fans were unbelievable. He has been in the ring with both, therefore, he would know, plus everyone is entitled to their opinion. At the end of the day, there is no loser between Floyd and Pac because they will make more in one night than 75% of the population will ever see in a lifetime.
Are you telling me PAC cherry picked the Champ Cotto but it was ****ing DANGEROUS for PBF to fight the bloated JMM?! YES OR NO?! WHO IS THE REAL WW here. JMM who had 2 fights at 135lbs then moved to 145lbs actually 147 coz PBF did not bother shed the excess 2 lbs! OR Cotto who DEFEATED Mosley! Which in your stupid line of thinking that PAC should have fought the loser! NOW TELL ME WHO IS CHERRY PICKING HERE?!:rofl:hi:
fact? how can it become a fact if there's still no solid proof... only speculations. the real fact is that pac has been disproving this so-called facts that has been spawning before fights.
That video was the truth. Thanks for that. You helped me shut up a friend of mine. I've been trying to tell him exactly what was on that video
I back up my opinions with examples and alot of facts my friend........ Mayweather is undefeated and coming off of clearly outpointing Marquez...... I regard Pacquiao as a great fighter but also see his weaknesses....... I'm on record as stating that Mayweather will easily school Pacquiao in a non-competitive fight.....but I'll be the first person on here to say I've underrated his boxing ability if he even competes with Mayweather Jr. ......but you know what....even if Mayweather wins hands down 12-0 in rounds.......I'm also a realist......that does'nt take away from the fact that Pacquiao is a great fighter and good for the sport. .......two fisted, skilled, and smart boxers are Pacquiao's kryptonite.........and you know what, the kind of skillset that Marquez and Mayweather posses does'nt come about very often.......and if it takes that kind of elite skillset to beat Pacquiao, then you know he's a great fighter regardless if he gets beaten by them. Manny Pacquiao is a great fighter, no if's, and's, or but's.......so please, when I'm debating *******'s, those not in that group should know that I regard Pacquiao as an elite great fighter.........not overrated but by the *******s who many would believe Pac could walk on water if he put his mind to it.
You'll be hardpressed to put together sequences like the video from the thread starter depicting Pacquiao doing work in many different rounds......as you could see the number of different rounds those highlights came from in the youtube clip....... If you'd put up highlights from Pac against JMM......virtually all of the clip would have to come from 2 out of the 24 rounds that they fought (the knockdown rounds).......yet with Marquez, his highlights are distributed up and down the ladder coming from so many different rounds. Most of you know it but *******s simply wont admit it......two rounds dont make a fight!:deal
Marquez publicly and through the media came out and said, "I'm conceding to their every demand. The people want to see this fight, and I want the fight. I'm accepting their offer publicly." ......Marquez had said that 135 lbs was not a problem, it that was the Pacquiao excuse, he'd sign the contract at 135 lbs........it was Roach who backed out of what he had earlier said that his fighter could'nt make 135 lbs any longer......he's the one who then changed his tune for the fight to take place at 130 lbs. I said it back then that with both fighters unproven at higher than 130 lbs, it would benefit the boxer Marquez for the fight to happen at 135 lbs.......Roach must have been thinking along my lines and decided instead to have the fight take place at 130 lbs...... A power puncher like Pacquiao would rather have less mass to chop down......usually a puncher loses power the higher the weight he travels......but the boxer never loses his skillset. .....advantage boxer. I still am of the same mindset of Pacquiao.......he has good power as he's climbed up.......but not near the power he had at 126 lbs and 130 lbs.....at those weights a fighter the caliber of Miguel Cotto would have never seen the halfway point of the fight after getting droped twice in those early rounds...... Pacquiao put a beatdown on Cotto from the 3rd round on. Pac was really putting leverage on his shots.....yet Cotto who's not known for a granite chin, took alot of clean Pacquiao shots all the way to the 11th......and Cotto would have seen the final bell had the referee let it continue. ......at 126 lbs and 130 lbs, I see no way Cotto would have been anywhere near the finish line with the type of clean connects he was taking. .....btw, I agreed with the refs stopping the action on Cotto in the 11th.......no need for the fight to continue at that point and let Cotto take further punishment for the sake of Cotto crossing the finish line.
