After the Marquez fight everyone keeps saying that Pacquiao is in decline but something people don't realized is that this fight was just as close as the last two, so does that mean that Pacquiao is declining or just that he has been put in with opponents that were weight drained, old, past prime and tailor made?

why do you say that? he knocked him down something only way bigger men have done? couldn't it have been just that mosley is just the first fighter in a while that didn't come straight at him?

That was a split second in a 12 round non event. Yes, Mosley was defensive, but the signs were there. Perhaps the way Mayweather dealt with Mosley has something to do with it - and yes, I know styles makes fights.

pacquiao's hands have gone slower - prime was 08/09 - now its 2012 - time has passed a bit.

Floyd's footwork has slowed but him being a boxer he can adjust his game better with age than pac

He has clearly lost half a step, his feet & hands have slowed down

He's still a tremendous fighter but isnt quite the force he was back in 09

I also asked because even though he slowed down a bit people will say he slowed down but mayweather didn't and i think both of them are now a little past prime

Reached his peak with the Hatton and Cotto fights. He has been in a obvious decline since those fights.

    Unfortunately, yes.

I'd love to be able to go back and dig up my posts pior to Margarito, because in them I was concerned about Arum putting Pacquiao in with bigger guys that'll make him go to war. I never envisaged Margarito being a walk in the park, and so I had the feeling a lot was gonna' be taken out of him. And lo and behold, he hasn't looked the same since. Maybe that's because of the people he's faced - two fighters that opted to extremely defensive and cautious - but it's not likely that we're gonna' get a confirmation of that in his next fight (a Bradley that's built to be an awkward customer for anyone).

But considering how unenthusiastic he's looked, I'd say the Pac of 2008-2010 is no longer with us. Understandably so, because it's already remarkable that he's managed to go on as long as he has, considering his style of fighting.

Both Pac and Floyd are past their prime.

In Pac's case, it's also a case of mentality -- he doesn't try to outright destroy opponents anymore. (Watch the end of his first match with Barrera for an example of his old mentality.) He used to compensate for a lack of skill/polish with relentless aggression and explosiveness, to the point of being wild and putting himself at risk. I think it was Nacho who described that old version of Pac as a 'wildcat', unpredictable and very difficult to tame. Now he's sharpened his skills, but he's also lost that old fire, which is natural when considering that he doesn't really need to be 'hungry' anymore. Physically, he doesn't have the same speed either.

Floyd is still looking much better than his opponents, but he looks like he's lost a step too. He didn't look like his usual fluid, sharp self against Ortiz. Again, this is to be expected due to his age.

Majority of this kind of talk started after JMM beat him, and its style thing he never looked great against JMM so i dont believe this stories, he maybe is not prime but not even close to shot as some Pac fans like to say just because they have seen that he is beatable against JMM!!!
