Not bad since David Diaz is not a headliner, but not great either since Pacquiao is the new P4P #1 and will be expected to carry his fair share of the numbers.

Here are some other recent P4P Champions' numbers after first assuming the mantle of #1:

*Bernard Hopkins (vs. Oscar De La Hoya) - 1,000,000 buys (for undisputed middleweight title)
*Floyd Mayweather (vs. Zab Judah) - 350,000 buys (for IBF welterweight belt)
*Manny Pacquiao (vs. David Diaz) - 250,000 buys (for WBC lightweight belt)

    500 K I believe.

This is par the course with some of the more recent PPVs I think. Pavlik/Taylor 2 did in the 250 range as well.

The only ones off the top of my head would beCotto/Mosley (350 IIRC) and Tito/RJJ did about 500.

HBO should have made the Countdown show for this fight. I talk to a lot of Boxing fans and they missed watching it because they don't know Pac was fighting.

HBO made the ctdwn show for PBF-Baldo and they Played for 2 consecutive weeks. Baldo was also was seen in 2 consecutive fights on Non PPV TV before the PBF fight. with Judah in SHO and with Gatti in HBO. Diaz was with Morales in PPV but HBO didn't broadcast the replay. His next fight was in Pac-JMM undercard but also not shown in the replay. So basically a Casual fan who never check Boxing in the internet has no Idea who Diaz is. Why the hell they didn't show a replay of Diaz-Morales before the fight?? Why No countdown??? HBO wake up and learned from this!!!!

PAc-JMM 2 made 525,000+. I guess Manny should have had the third fight uh? IM positive it would have hit close to 700,000 buys.

Good points, HBO did drop the ball on this one. At the same time, so did team Pac. If they're going to put a Pac fight on PPV, they should make sure he's taking on a guy that the public is aware of. Pac is supposedly fighting Valero next. Valero fights all of his fights overseas, and is an unknown commodity in the U.S. This fight should not be on ppv.

Actually, that fight did 400k. That's still a great number for that weightclass.

There's one article saying 525K but most say 400K. Most Mexican PPV fans doesn't believed the Diaz has a Chance and skipped this PPV.

I think Pac should Fight Valero on Free HBO next. With a nice Countdown show highlighting what Pac has done Historically in boxing plus the Hyping of Valero as the Monster KO machine. That fight could bring Back casual fans in boxing. Put this in PPV and the casual fans might not bother checking this fight.

That's why I want Hatton/DLH for Pac next. This will introduce Pac to the Maintream and casual fans. If they enjoyed this fights then they will be hooked to a Pac fight. So even if Pac will be matched to an unknown fighter, it still will sell because they know already about Pac.

If they do Pac-Valero next is will sell only about 350K-400K PPV. But if they do Pac-Hatton next which can hit a Million PPV buy. Then they can have the Pac-Valero after that, I'm sure at least Half of that 1M will be buying this fight.
