Loma is not a pure boxer. And its a southpaw against a southpaw so Pacquaio would have lots of chances to land explosive shots with high workrate and great footwork as well. Pacquiao win imo

I really think Pac would get Loma out of there with just a few flush lefts.

Gone with Loma on this one.

Yes Pac man was a brilliant fighter at the time, but i always have thought of him as an elite level (of the highest order) brawler.

Loma, in my opinion has a lot of layers to his game.

Having said that if Pac iced him i also wouldn't be surprised, so by no means am i saying Loma would make easy work of Pac. Just my opinion.

Would have been a great fight

I always thought of pac as a boxer-puncher than a brawler even in his early days as i never really saw how he fought inside or if he even fought inside at all which is the prominent trait of brawlers.

Styles make fights. Loma probably beats Marquez on points. But Pac viciously beats Loma. Marquez had a massive right hand to deter Pacquiao. JMM is a big time power puncher.

I find is strange that everybody here thinks that Loma has the physical toughness to endure a prime Pac for 12 rounds. They just gloss right over how vicious prime Pac was. This is boxing and prime Pac had an element to his style that caused sheer physical stress to the opposition. He was that vicious.

Do they even know what its like to step into the ring with peak Pacquiao? At 135 and below Pac hits people hard and regularly. Doesnt matter who you are or how good your defense is. Prime Pac in the lower weights lands on you, and hard. Everybody got leveled and badly hurt. Everybody.

I don't question Lomas mental toughness and resolve. I wonder if he has the physical constitution to finish the entire 12 rounds. When has he ever shown he has the toughness to survive a brutal Pac war?

Linares wasn’t faster, just more textbook, thus having a better jab. Loma vs Pac is different. Two short guys, two southpaws, both with short reaches.

If Loma can’t beat Pac, this may be it. And once again we’ll have another defunct triangle theory a la Pacquiao/Marquez/Bradley.

Its pathetic that Bradley even gets more than a shred of credit for robbing Pac and barely beating Marquez. As if Two over the hill Featherweights allow him to establish a HOF resume.

    Thats a fair enough comment.

To class someone that good a brawler is maybe a little bit of an exaggeration, but i have always put his skills being more down to elite athleticism rather than elite boxing skill. The reason Marquez has been such a problem for him in every single fight.

    Regardless, a great fighter.

    Still sticking with Loma ;)

Marquez is the hardest puncher p4p that Pac has ever fought. That plays a part in his why Marquez has been difficult for him. And lets not act like Pac was easy for Marquez either. Cuz he gave him hell as well.

What youre asking is a catch 22; if he had ever taken enough shots to show such physical toughness, it would mean he got hit far too much against an inferior offensive fighter than Pac (so imagine how much easier Pac would land on him).

I hate picking Pac fantasy fights at 135. Diaz was his only fight there, but he looked every bit an ATG and had everything you'd want in a lightweight. Its impressive he moved up, but part of me would've loved to see him obliterate the division for a few more fights.

Loma has the better win, but also is still acclimating to the class. I think it boils down to whether Loma can counter hard enough to discourage Manny, and I'm not sure he does. His body attack is an X factor.

Dream fight, and one I favor Manny on points in. Ask me in a year or two, maybe my answer changes. It won't be easy for either man- neither has faced anything like the other.
