Pacman deserves credit for defying the odds and what 75% of the public boldly stated would happen if this fight took place, but that's it. Anybody with two eyes can see DLH looked shot to pieces.
I do not think Pac/Delahoya was the same as Camacho/Leonard. Leonard was really dumb to fight anyone in 1997. He had not won in 8 years and he was 41 years old and he was totally dismantled by Norris in his last fight 6 years before. We never knew if the Norris fight had any lasting effect since he stopped fighting after that. Against Norris he looked terrible. With Camacho there was no shock. what happened. With Pacman there was shock. Oscar was still semi-fighting.
Many has made many look shot over time. He made EM, MAB and Diaz look as if they were shot. PAC beat a great fighter in DLH and it was PAC's fist that made DLH look shot to peices....the speed didn't help. DLH gave PAC credit so should everyone else.
I have yet to see the fight, but Ray was just old and I believe Oscar had not business at 147. Training is one thing, but the actual fight is another. If Oscar is to ever fight again, it should be at 154. I was at the Camacho vs Ray fight and Ray just lost to fathertime. Many props to Pacman due to myself saying Oscar was going to win, but the only possible excuse was weight drain. Manny should fight at 140 and take on Hatton. If by some reason Hatton beats on and possilby stops Pacman then that gives you the reason why Oscar got beat. Camacho was much younger than Ray and his speed was much more than Ray whether old or prime.
I heard that about Oscar giving Pac credit, but let's wait when we hear from Oscar which should be soon. I am going with weight drain.
No comparison.. SRL was much older and coming off a six year layoff. His last fight was against Norris at 154. Here's the full fight. He could come back wiht that excuse but regardless of what DLH says, he made it a point to get down to 147 and do it the correct way....he used all the necessary options to not only get down in weight but secure his power, speed and stamina. Although no one could tell! I honestly feel DLH was a good as he could be physically....but came with the wrong game plan and mentality. And of course PAC didn't make it easy. If Oscar was weight drained I feel the beating he took wouldn't have enabled him to make it to round 8! PAC was landing GREAT body shots and devastating head shots all night...yet DLH was still able to push the fight...he just couldn't find his rythm.
Looking at this fight again. Could this fight have been fixed. Ray did not look like he wanted to be there and if you noticed at the fifth round Ray sticks out his tongue and this is when Camacho hurts him. It did not look like much. Remember, both were money machines. I just watched it a couple of times as a matter of fact and it just looks a little stage.
the comparison sounds stupid to me....Leonard was about 55 when he fought Camacho, and had been inactive for centuries....DLH is only 35, and Pac should get his due credit for busting his ass....
Ray had too much ego to fall for money. He liked money but he would not lose a fight for money. He was just too old and had not been active in years and years. Ray would have lost to Vincent Pettway on this night.
I agree about the time off. But not so much about ages. Yeah, SRL was 41. But Camacho was 35. Same age DLH is NOW. By the way, after the Camacho/Leonard Fight he fought an 11 years younger than him Oscar de la Hoya. And Neither Oscar nor Tito could Knock him out. Yeah!! I know his tactics. But the man survived. PERIOD
bull **** comparison, SRL was old as **** and hadn't fought in 6 yrs while oscar fought earilier this yr, ODLH is past it but since Pac had only fought once above 130, DLH had a huge advantage, bottom line is he has proven that he is not an ATG.
