I cant believe so many people bought this fight, now a lot of casual fans will say boxing suck and not tune in for a next fight because of poor matchmaking.
Pac vs berto would have been a better choice, it would have been a war he would likely have won vs a wbc beltholder and it porbably would have done a mil.
Now this hurts the sport in the long run, and it gives you a competitor with a belt that you cant find because its gbp. It really seems bob arum is cashing out of the game with all these short term big money matchups.

great numbers if true, but i suspect it ain't.

But all it shows it that we as boxing fans will get more of these mismatches as long as promoters like Arum can keep pulling the wool over the publics eyes.

For example why would Arum put pac in the ring with any of these prime young high risk kind of fighters, when he can essentially put pac in the ring with an old past prime low risk kind of fighter and make huge amount of money?

Now I'm no expert but if I am arum and i am a business man I know which route i will keep taking.

 

he already stated, in that same newspaper, that he doesn't care about who pac fights, and that he knows people with pay to see pac


he knows he can milk the public, so why put his money train in any danger


as a businessman, you can't blame him...it just sucks for the fans

 

Every fight outside of pbf/martinez is a mismatch for pac at this point. Berto VS Mosley tommorow and the odds will be damm close, I guarantee!

 

mismatches can still lead to a semi-exciting fight....oldsley was not the way to go for that

 

the Mosley fight was boring, but Pac's last fight before that was awesome and yet on paper it was ****. Arum expected Mosley to bring it and come for the win, not to run all night.

 

NO-ONE could ever have anticipated that SHANE MOSLEY would turntail and run like a ***** that night. The fight SHOULD have been a thriller, we can't blame Bob Arum for Shane turning into a flat ***** instead of trying to earn his purse by fighting like a man.

Too much is made of fighting "young prime hungry" fighters. Trust me, put Pacquiao in with Berto or Khan and he would ****ing brutalize them within a couple of rounds. Put him in with a much bigger warrior like Margo, and you have a great fight playing out.

Marquez or Bradley next I hope.

 

the Bradley fight will result in a headbutt almost assuredly, that's the problem with that fight.

 

I dont think anybody expected Mosely to run the whole fight. It may have been a mismatch, but Mosely was known to slug it out with his opponents, and what he did that night was quite surprising.

 

At some point it has to become the fighter's responsibility - at least partially - to say, "Hey, put me in with a better opponent." I'm not one who believes Pacquiao's been cherry-picking, though. Imagine if someone told you a few years ago that he would move up from 130 to 147 and beat Oscar de la Hoya, Miguel Cotto, Joshua Clottey, Antonio Margarito and Shane Mosley. I've been a big fan of Pacquiao's and I still would've had a good laugh from that.

I mean it was just two years ago that a lot of people thought Ricky Hatton would steamroll him. The odds were 1.5:1 if I recall correctly. I'd guess if that fight were to happen now as opposed to 2009, Pacquiao would be at least a 5:1 favorite even at 140.
