it really wouldent surprise me if he retired to be honest what else does he have left to prove in my eyes he doesnt need mayweather he will still have a legacy of being and amazing pound for pound boxing
If he retires before fighting Mayweather and doesnt go through the rigorous drug testing Mayweather proposed, the drug cheat suspicions will always hang over him whether he likes it or not.

Floyd and Pac will NEVER happen. Pac will just fight Top Rank guys now; Floyds legacy can not really get much better unless he fights Pac. Pac knows this, and will finish his career with a Valero or Margarito. A shame, but thats the way its gonna be I reckon. If Floyd wants to bolster his legacy he'll have to take on a challenge like Williams.

He's been hinting at retirement as far back as the de la Hoya fight, a complete non-story in my opinion.
He still has a lot to prove. He's not the best ever after all, is he? Not by a long-shot. He still has some way to go to be regarded as one of the greatest. Beating Mayweather and/or Mosley would be a start.
