Lifting weights is not the same as cardiovascular activity. You will NEVER burn more calories lifting weights than the same effort put into cardio. You should never even compare the two, cardio is all about energy and endurance while power lifting is about strength and mass.

You know what happens when a bodybuilder decides to run/cross train exclusively while maintaining the same diet as for lifting? The muscle drops off considerably, because the body needs to break down the muscle for energy that it isn't getting from the diet. This is proven scientific fact.

Ignore pacquiao, and look at every other long endurance sport. Cyclists routinely burn/consume around 10,000 calories per day. As do Olympic swimmers (not just Phelps).

These guys burn and eat calories for energy. It has nothing to do with size (like the reference to Wlad someone mentioned). It seems most of the doubters here doubt simply because they don't know any better.

Pro Cyclists burn 8,000 to 10,000 calories per day:

    Same here...

I dont bother explaining/arguing to people these days, stupid people remain stupid.

With the internet, you can pretty much educate your self on alot of things. I learnt alot when I used to visit the body building site a few years ago. All the legit informations are there, I dont know why some people refuse to educate themselves.

That is the thing about being in shape. U could eat like a mothafugga and still burn it off. I use to eat a medium supreme pan pizza from Pizza Hut every day, and I never put on a pound because I use to burn it off jogging. Being in shape definitely has it's benefits.

    .

if they are just doubters, then they can educated and be informed. unfortunately, you are dealing with haters on this site. so, no amount of logic and facts will change their minds. they have a one-tracked mind which is derailed to say the least...

7000 really isn't that difficult. I was taking in 3800 daily to put on weight when I was 145. You're talking about a world-class athlete.

WTF was Michael Phelps taking in during his training? It was like 12,000 or 13,000. Some ridiculous number.
