Although it might gross more due to PPV money and inflation, Pac-Mayweather isn't even close to being as big.

 

Really? I wouldn't argue because I'm too young to remember but I can't imagine a bigger fight than the potential one we could have in a few months time.

 

He wont retire, he gives away to much money so will be back at some point or not go away yet for a long while.

If the Mayweather fight doesnt happen its another stain on the sport.

It's probably made bigger due to the personal issues between the pair.... and maybe set a precedent for the ''let's wait till it gets bigger'' attitude that cost fans Lewis vs Bowe, and other fights that happened but years too late.

 

Its not (and won't be) even close.

Put it this way. The biggest fight by far in boxing in 1986/87 was Hagler-Hearns 2, everyone wanted to see a rematch of the "9 Minutes of Mayhem". Then Leonard-Hagler gets rumoured and straight away nobody gives a **** about it.

 

Of course it is...:yep 2 different fighters in a different generation...:yep

It has everything to sell, the skills and the needle, it's up close and personal, no doubt about it...:yep

I would love to go to this fight but the tickets will be as rare as rocking horse **** and cost the earth...:yep

Given that it's not going to be anywhere near as big as Hagler-Leonard, I no longer see any point in making the fight. Pac should just retire and Mayweather fight Matthew Hatton.

 

I guess if you don't remember it then I ain't gonna be able to convince you.

 

I think Hagler Leonard would be bigger, there's the good guy vs twat angle, boxer vs brawler, hard worker vs silver spooner as well.

Mayweather isn't as much of a **** as Leonard was, and Pacquiao doesn't (from afar obviously) have the profile in the States that Hagler had.

Plus both had beaten both Hearns and Duran in big fights, Leonard was coming off a long break.... Hagler had been in some wars.

 

I bet the Mayweathers are holding a party right now to celebrate pac's congressional victory in the hope that he'll now go away leaving the field clear to plunder the HBO $$$$ trough with more hand-picked low-risk/max-reward opponants.

I hope everyone just faces the fact that Floyd will never ever get into the ring against pac-man, it's a bad fight for floyd from a business perspective as his whole career is on the line against a live opponant in the popular sense, Floyd thinks he can easily plunder another $150/$200 over the next 3 years or so he thinks.

He'll never risk all the marbles on this one throw of the dice with pac regardless of public opinion & for the good of boxing thats made him a rich man even that he's the favorite in most eyes, Just accept the fact that floyd dose'nt give a flying **** what anyone thinks about him period, as long as he's got his 0 then you'll pay to see him win or lose regardless & pay you will.

After Pac hammered Cotto the Mayweather camp wanted no part of pac so hence all the charector assasination bull****, if the mayweathers were that confident as they'd been before the Cotto fight then they'd just get on with it & cut the crap & fight within the tried & tested rules & regulations of the governing bodies just as everyone else has done & will do in the future.

Floyd's just taking the **** big time & being allowed to get away with it, laughing all the way to the bank AGAIN!!!!! He's boxing's version of Jesse James.

It'll be Margo at the Dallas Cowboys & Uncle Bob Arum will be extreamly happy at that!

I can't see pac carrying on fighting all these big guys as he's looking beat up after Cotto/Clottey & Margo is a ****in nightmare, it'll be a terrifying slugfest & Pac will deff have his hands full.

 

With a bit of luck, they'll make Hagler-Leonard 2, with Tyson-Holyfield 3 on the undercard. These two nobodies, Packeow and Mayheater, should stop pretending they're superstars.

On my last viewing after years of having Pacquiao winning both I had Marquez winning the 1st and Pacquiao by a point in the 2nd fight.
