How many of you 'actually' followed boxing before Pacman came along?

who amongst you remembers getting excited about watching Whitacker vs Chavez in a bar in Manilla?

No I don't remember the fight...I was 5 at the time. Though I do remember the rise of Hamed, the Ottke v Reid Fiasco and following Calzaghe after he beat Eubank.

I just started watching boxing when Manny beat Diaz , I only watch fighters who win.

Who are Whitaker and Chavez? are they from the programme 'different strokes'??

I folowed boxing before I became a fan of Manny, but I didn't watch Whitacker-Chavez in a bar in Manilla. In all honesty I've never even been there!

before Pacquiao won his first title at Flyweight in 1998, i was 10 years old and the only sport i follow was WWF lol. My father though was a boxing fan and i remember trying to take the remote control from him while he was watching because i thought boxing was boring.

By the time Pacquiao was about to face barrera, my father had succeded in turning me into a boxing fan and i could give a list of who were in the top p4p rankings in those days

m a fan of pac. but i don't consider myself being a so-called "hardcore" fan.

i watched when the four horsemen (hagler, herns leonard, duran) fought each other. i also recall watching ali fight holmes and tyson's rampage up the HW ranks and his downfall from grace. certainly all of these fights were before pac's time.

I'm a decent boxing fan even before the rise of pac. The HW Div and Tyson era in the late 80s and 90's was really something before pac was introduce to the word.

I wasnt born into boxing I chose boxing 11 years ago. I was a casual fan and watched every non-ppv fight on HBO. When I first saw Pacquiao live on HBO against MAB I was thinking to myself this Filipino was going to get F***** up. He shocked me and I didnt think he was for real until after the first round of the JMM fight.

Ever heard of Vito Antuofermo vs Marvin Hagler? Watch those kind of fights in Manila via free TV.

Oh, before Pac I watched Tyson won the heavyweight crown at age 19, and got beaten by Buster Douglas several years after. All these in free TV in Manila.
