i also remember malcolm tunacao winning against medgoen singsurat and taking the belt back after pacman lost it, only to lose on his very first defense... frankie cedeño also lost the belt on his 1st defense, if i recall it right..

 

bilib ako sa defense ni espinosa noon. ang hirap niyang madale kahit nasa ropes na siya... tragic nga lang ang kinatapusan ng career niya. medyo broke na ata ngayon yun tapos sabi nila parang may sayad na due to depression... di yata nabayaran yung fight na dapat e medyo malaki ang kita niya.

 

I miss it by four years, I remember now that it was the brother of onyok who gave us another olympic boxing bronze the following olympic year.

there's this one local boxer(davao city) who's a favorite of mine who was a former philippine champion but came out of the closet after retiring from amateur play..
