Eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao has no interest in fighting on Top Rank's planned card for April 14 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao was being lined up to face former junior welterweight champion Mike Alvarado, in a co-featured slot to Terence Crawford's challenge of WBO welterweight champion Jeff Horn.

Both fights would be carried on ESPN as part of a pay-per-view event.

Rumors of Pacquiao's departure from the card began to circulate earlier this week, when it was revealed that the Filipino star had not started training camp and there was no communication between the boxer and his longtime trainer Freddie Roach.

Pacquiao apparently rejected the idea of facing Alvarado on the card, because the boxer felt insulted when offered a non-main event role - especially since the boxer believes he was the rightful winner of the bout with Horn, and Pacquiao would have been the biggest ticket seller on the card.

"No he's not fighting Alvarado," Aquiles Zonio, Pacquiao's media relations officer said in a message to ESPN5's Lyn Olavario. "He rejected Bob Arum's offer to fight [in the] undercard of the Crawford-Horn fight."

"It's an insult to him. The world knew who won that dirty fight in Brisbane. It was the biggest broad daylight boxing heist."

Alvarado is definitely an insulting opponent.... Pac has lost a step but he deserves better.

Pac co-main to Jeff Horn is an insult really.

    F Bob Arum

Pac said he wants Matthysse but they were trying to feed him Alvarado and a co-main slot

Fair enough rejecting fighting in the undercard, Pacquiao's name still draws more than Horn and Crawford, but calling his loss to Horn 'the biggest broad daylight boxing heist' is laughable.

No, not fair enough, that's some egotistical drama queen BS.

When a great player in the NBA reaches a certain age where he's no longer putting up the stats he once did, no longer has the stroke from beyond the arc, no longer has that All-Star handle and swagger, he is given the choice to either: a) get traded off to a shitty lottery team where he can ball-hog as the leader until injuries or shame force him to retire or b) come off the bench as 6th man and still make an impact albeit in more of a limited role, providing a strong locker room presence and mentoring their successors to build their game and ideally help them get a championship ring.

Truly honorable greats choose the latter, and are rightly lauded for it by the fans and media. Selfish divas who choose the former are remembered as such.

Pacquiao-Horn drew a ton of viewers on ESPN because Pacquiao was on ESPN. Like 4 million.

Crawford-Postol PPV drew between 50,000 and 75,000 buys. It was a bust.

Crawford isn't a PPV draw. Horn isn't a PPV draw. Their fight isn't a PPV draw.

    The draw is Manny Pacquiao.

Let's see if Crawford-Horn remains a PPV now that Pacquiao isn't involved.

Manny should sign with Al Haymon. Haymon wouldn't put him on an undercard.

Haymon's got a lot of welterweight champs who'd fight Manny on PPV in a main event.

Actually I hear it was Alvarado who felt insulted and turned it down.

    You're being overly harsh.

One is a team sport where teammates can pick you up.

The other is a combat sport where you risk your life. Alone. In a ring.

If Pac were a pitcher and his fastball fell from an average of 95 mph to 88 mph, and he doesn't accept being the number 4 or 5 starter, then yes. He deserves criticism. Because he would be hurting the team's chances of going to the play offs if he's matched up against opposing aces.

Pacquiao reserves the right to refuse any fight he wants.

Yeah but he could have done so months ago when this was first announced or even in the rumored stages. Waiting until just 4-5 weeks out when there has already been so much promotion done, bets laid, tickets bought - is a diva move. He needs to set aside his pride and have a professional, grown-up conversation with Arum (not to mention Roach, ghosting your trainer of 17 years is a tad childish). This guy's a politician, right?
