Nothing to do with Alvarado. It´s Pacquiao having to be on Horns undercard.

That happens all the time, though - former champ appears on the undercard of the guy who beat them in the hopes of setting up a rematch if both are victorious in style.

Crawfords undercard* This is a showcase fight for him in reality. That might well but true but giving him someone as poor as 2018 Alvarado certainly doesn't help things.

    The event isn't official.

The venue has been booked, but there are no official announcements, press conference, or tickets available to be sold.

I don't think you can compare team sports to individual sports as in team sports the loyalty is always with the team.

Headlining boxing cards has always been about fighter popularity rather than skill or belts. Besides, Pacquiao did only lose his WBO belt in his last fight and it was very competitive, it's not like he's RJJ level of washed up.

On the other hand, suppose Pac & Matthysse got their wish and Matthysse landed some hail-Mary and Pac ended up KTFO worse than in JMM IV? There goes the big payday of Crawford, Horn II, McGregor, whatever. If that happened, it would be over. There would be no more headlining, no more 12-rounders. As a disinterested part-time fighter at 39 he isn't rebuilding from an 0-2 skid, just isn't happening. So in a sense you could say that Arum was doing him a favor in feeding him a soft touch like Alvarado to at least get Pac back in the win column and keep him in the public eye, stave off rust, etc., while biding time waiting to get that last big payday (Crawford/Horn II/McGregor/Mayweather II/whatever)

Good point on the daylight part, didn't even consider that. But my point still stands considering I don't think it was a robbery at all.

I get Arum's rationale. But coming from the perspective of a fan and the ego of a lot of fighters it's quite insulting. He's going to have to think of something quick, because he'll only be able to squeeze so much more out of Pac. And you know he wants to do that. Wouldn't be surprised if he just shelved him altogether and fed him to Crawford after he beats Horn.

It was reported by every reputable boxing media outlet as official back on Valentine's Day, and had been rumored since the start of the year.

Pac had plenty of time for mulling it over and negotiating alternatives with his promoter. He's cutting it awfully close here to be just up and taking his ball and going home to sulk.

You go into the ring alone but there's certainly a team behind every championship fighter.

Maybe not to Arum, but you don't think Manny owes more loyalty to Roach at least to be a little more professional than not returning his calls for weeks about starting camp?

But still. Pacquiao strongly believes he won that fight and now he has to be on the undercard?
It had to be a big factor in him acting like a diva.
