Since the Thurman win, there's been a trend among some casual fans to claim Pacquiao is the greatest fighter of all time. What I didn't expect was a seasoned commentator like Max Kellerman claiming Manny has a case for GOAT status! I'm told that he's the only guy to be a champion across four decades, that he beat a young prime Thurman despite being way past his prime, that he won championships in 8 divisions etc. Well, how can you say that your a true world champion in 8 divisions if you were never THE undisputed world champion? If you can accept paper titles, then surely Duran would be the only guy to be a champ in four decades. He picked up the NBA super middleweight title in the 90s and held it until the loss to Comacho in 2001. And Keith was hardly in his prime, he was on the comeback trail after being out for 3 years.
I know you're a fanboy so Imma tell you one thing and one thing only. Settle down, you can call him the best of our era, not much more with that much certainty.
Thurman far closer to his prime than Pacquiao so you can't say it's not a great win. An ATG, but not close to being the GOAT
The Thurman win is very overrated, Thurman looked like dog**** in his previous fight and almost lost to a bum
Pac's resume and achievement will look better over time. Yes it does get really annoying when people over praise Pac but his legacy can't be denied. Top 10-20 ATG for me.
