Pac never beat a prime Morales and I'm his biggest fan. In the first fight Morales still had enough left and he beat Pac. In the 2nd fight Morales was coming back down in weight and the wars had started to add up. He paid for the wars and the weight cut. And his legs were gone in the middle rounds. And Pac stopped him. If that was prime Morales his legs dont gived out.

How were Cotton, Morales and Hatton prime?

Cotton got the life beaten out of him by concrete, Morales lost to Zahir Raheem before Pac beat him and Hatton after Floyd was never the same again, almost got knocked out by Juan Lascano but the ref gave Ricky time to tie his shoes.

    Read the post again...

And Cotto looked better than ever right after the Margarito fight. If one war is the standard for being past prime then Pac was over the hill after Marquez I and shot after Morales I. See how ridiculous you sound?

He has a legendary and deep resume, it is not about deucing on it. But the claims of "ATG's/HOF'ers" and "in their prime..."?

Morales, Hatton, and Cotto probably or clearly do not apply. All of their three or five or more years-long best stretches of their career did not include nor was ended by the fight with Pacquiao. Therefore they were not prime, correct?

Barrera and Marquez, absolutely great examples.

It is pretty difficult to have beaten ATG's/HOF'ers in their primes, by the nature of the implied definition and retrospect. I think a reasonable thing to determine "prime" would be anywhere between three to five, maybe longer for some and shorter for most others, year stretch of a career.

What would be your categorizing for "prime," I'm curious? Certainly not Cotto compared to his 140 days and pre-Margarito welter or Hatton over the years leading up to and right after Kostya?

All in the eyes of the beholder. All just opinions and loose terms, I guess. But it can be fun to discuss, as long as trolling stays to a minimum.

Different fighters have different lengths on top. Usually there is a correlation between that and greatness.

Cotto did not look better than ever right after the Margarito fight, that claim is odd.

Was Fernando Vargas a prime fighter at 29 years old?

LOOOL.. what are you talking about kid? After the concrete beating Cotton looked worse than he ever has and arguably should of lost his fight vs Clottey. His best win before the Floyd fight was a dubious win against a one legged Rabbi at 154 LOOL.

PAC never got beat by plaster of Paris, as if that’s the same as having close fights with Marquez.

He kept knocking people out and was the first and only man to ever go toe to toe with a prime Pac.

I would say that the best 5 year stretch of Cottos career was 2005 to 2010. That's just me though.

As for Hatton, Pac is the only man to beat him at his best weight. He did the same thing he did to Tszyu and everybody else. He went straight in. And Pac met him with firepower. The guy did the same damn thing he always did. And Pac was just like ok, you're walking in, I'll punch you.

Not really he went on a KO streak fight after Pacquiao. You're telling me a 27 year old fighter is past prime because he got knocked out and took his first loss. Its absurd. Especially when he looked good against Pac and then went on a KO streak after the Pac loss.

Pac wasnt just in close fights against Marquez and Morales. They were savage, brutal, vicious wars. So by your definition Pac was shot by after the first Morales fight. Because heaven forbid any young fighter ever have a violent fight. No way their feeble bodies could ever take that.

    1. Great fight with Clottey but that is a fight a big minority scored for Clottey. Cotto won by 1 point. That was before facing Pac. Clearly Cotto was not on same form and producing his best results between 2008-09, and never did again. And he never again fought within 8 pounds of the limit he faced Pac at.

    2. Fighting in the same style does not change any and all aspects of aging and deterioration. Usually not adapting exposes it sooner. Hatton was not in his prime.

You mean morales wasn't prime anymore at 29 when pac beat him in the second fight? Then i guess he must have been more damaged than i thought but it was still a good beatdown.
