If Morales was passed his prime when Pac won, how far passed his prime was he?

I take your point, but JMM obviously wasn't that hurt given that he completed the next 11 rds.

When Barrera and Pac first met, Barrera was not passed his prime. He was very well into his prime. Barrera fought and won afterwards against Paulie Ayala and Erik Morales. He was also coming off wins from Kevin Kelly, Johnny Tapia, Morales, and Hamed.

When Pac faced off with Morales the first time, Pac wore the "Winning" brand gloves that Morales uses which are more of a boxer's gloves, and not a puncher's gloves. When Pac wore the "Reyes" brand gloves, he ko'd Morales.

If there was anything controversial about Pac-JMM I, it was that Pac should have gotten the win. One of the judges gave Pac a 10-7 in the first round instead of a 10-6 since there were 3 knockdowns.

Sure, Barrera was still in a great time during his career, but we can't forget that he had a deplorable training camp and went into the ring in the worst shape than in his recent fights.

And then again with the gloves. It didn't make a freaking difference. Yes, Morales wore the Reyes gloves but had them custom made to be more like the Winning gloves. Blaming Pacquiao's loss to stupid gloves is absurd.

pacquiao was able to beat convincingly a close to his prime barrera at featherweight, was the first to knock out a past prime morales although he is still a live opponent in their 2nd fight. and was able to win against a great counterpuncher named marquez, albeit a close one.

now haters would only discredit his accomplishment. if pac were an american or even mexican, several ppl will jump onto his nuts.

many haters hate him probably because even if he is one dimensional and most of them don't like his style, he was able to beat great fighters and legends from mexico

Pacquiao beat his best opponents, but I'm not sure if he did it at their best.

Well, not above PBF skillwise, but above him for sure in fighting the top fighters of his day.

I was a big fan of Barrera and Marquez. I thought for sure Marquez would have beat him this time around. Face it, Pac has proven himself, the guy deserves a break.

Hey DON'T SAY that MAB is already PAST coz MAB is the only
SIGNIFICANT boxer in the list of JMM's resume. JMM fans wouldn't like to hear that! :hey

Pac has a case. Beating MAB at his career high, being the first to KD and KO Morales twice and beating JMM really are amazing accomplishments. You can say his win over JMM was controversial, but hey, 25% of people on a poll here thought Oscar beat Floyd and the Castillo fight was even more controversial. And I would rate the JMM that fought Pac higher than any of FLoyds opponents to date under the cicumstances.

The closest that could come to JMM was Hatton but I think most would agree that p4p JMM was better that night than Hatton was that night at 147. Oscar comes close too and mainly cos he had size advantage but other than that, the guy was a part time semi-retired boxer and surely that win cannot be ranked higher than Pac demolishing MAB at top of his career and Pac like PBF was also coming up in weight.
