Too much gets made of sparring sessions. Ali never looked good in sparring. I saw him training a few times at his camp in Deer Lake PA. One of the members of his entourage made a point of explaining that "sparring is for trying out different things" .
Much talked about is Paul Spadofora's dominance over Floyd Mayweather in a sparring session, as if it meant much. It's absurd to think that Spadafora would have ever had a chance against Floyd in a real fight based on that workout.
Same here , how much does it mean when a guy you're working out with makes you struggle a bit? Not all that much really. It's fight night that counts.

I don't put too much importance in what I hear and see in the 24/7 episodes. In the Pac/ODLH 24/7, Hoya said he was in great shape. Come fight time, he was a vegetable. In Pac/Hatton 24/7, Hatton said his training sessions was one of the best he's ever had. Come fight time, everything he did in training went out the window the first time he got hit. Go figure!
