Almost ****ing embarrassing Manny would let this come out his mouth, Manny gets a pass for everything though His statement shows they have 0 gameplan for JMM style Roach aint ****
Pac is not exactly a toe to toe fighter, he fights mainly on the outside coming in. Pac doesn't stay in the pocket and fire uppercuts and short hooks.
He didn't run but he didn't lead. Know the difference. Hence Pacquiao's sentiment. Don't claim you beat someone when your first concern is defense. Itsa a matter of principle really....and I can emphasize with what Pac said. Yeah sure there's a science behind boxing, but at the end of the day I would rather have the guy who took more risks win the fight.
Bull****. JMM lead plenty of times in that fight and got off first. Just bc he controlled the range and caught Manny coming in doesn't mean he didn't do ****. He also went to the body plenty of times as well. :huh
And why do you think Jmm controls range so well against Pac. This implies that he's on his backfoot, which in turn implies he doesn't punch first. And again, I can see where Pac is coming from. Why talk all this **** when all you do is back off? Maybe I'm old school, don't act all macho without backing it up. So yeah Pac is inviting him to bang....can you blame him?
Watch the fight, watch the dynamics and tell me who is moving forward and who is moving backward. No its not "running" per se as in Ali on your toes or Floyd/Baldo trying to avoid contact at all cost but he was on the backfoot. A guy on a backfoot relies on the aggressor to press the action. When I'm in the ring, I prefer to be on the backfoot, despite being the shorter guy and having more power(my build is that for an inside fighter). That is because IMO on the backfoot you have more control of the distance and range, you can engage your opponent at any time as he is doing the chasing. When I come forward I find it slightly more difficult, its easier to get countered cos when you are stepping forward you are essentially putting yourself in harms way and the guy on the backfoot can decide when he wants to take advantage of that, ie if he wants to hit you or jab you he will and its up to me to slip that. Meanwhile, if he doesn't want to engage or avoid contact, all he needs is to back up some more. There's an easy way to make a counterpuncher move forward, that is to move back yourself. Now if he's really hesitant, he may insist on moving back still which would result in 0 action. The aggressor creates the action, and IMO why judges rightfully favour the aggressor.
I think it is fair to expect a fighter to initiate his share of the exchanges and take the offensive 50% of the time. If a guy lands a punch and then runs the rest of the round should he win it because he landed the only punch? Nonsense or not it explains the way judges score fights now days.
Pac was the clear aggessor in the third fight but why should JMM give a **** what Pac wants him to do anyways. JMM can afford the waiting game bc he is the better counter puncher and IMO i think he is a better inside fighter as well. All roaches fighters are range fighters darting in and out with speed and power. If Pac fights on the inside "toe to toe" he'll get f**ked up by JMM who utilzes his uppercuts. Just look at Khan's style. He fights just like a water down Paciquao.
Bingo! There is no professional boxing without people paying to see it. Expecting both guys to equally try and create the action is only fair.
