You have a very shallow, reductive, and dare I say it, obtuse view of boxing. Those losses were so many years ago - what possible bearing or significance could they have on the current pound-for-pound rankings? atsch If we are going to decide the current p4p rankings on things that happened the best part of a decade ago, then Roy Jones, Evander Holyfield, Marco Antonio Barrera, Shane Mosley and Oscar De La Hoya would be the top 5 just now since they are all still active and had great wins years and years ago... but the pound-for-pound rankings are (very obviously) nothing to do with what happened years ago, and everything to do with what has happened in the past couple of years. In the past couple of years, Manny Pacquiao has become the first man ever that has won world titles in both the flyweight and lightweight - he has made history. That is an amazing achievement that history will remember. He also became a 5-weight world champion. He also beat the world p4p#2 (quite a good thing to do to prove you are the p4p#1, isn't it? atsch ). Had Joe Calzaghe taken on and beaten someone like Chad Dawson in his last fight, or re-matched and decisively beaten Bernard Hopkins, then maybe, maybe, he would even have a case for claiming to be the p4p#1. I still don't think he is good enough, but he would have at least had a legitimate claim. But Joe took the easy money for the low risk and slapped around the cadaver of Roy Jones for cash. Sorry, but any claim he could have had to the top spot died as soon as that fight was announced. And The Ring clearly agree with me on that. Manny is the clear and only number 1 right now.
Pacquiao never had an amateur career. He went straight pro. At 19, he was already fighting for a lineal title. Of course in his early fight he has some shitty fighters. He also has 52 fights at the age of 29. Think of how shitty some of the opposition is for these guys who are still fighting amateurs at an older age than Pac was when he won his first lineal title
Excellent! Now you know why BOXREC has Joe at #1 and fighters like Caballero, Vasquez and Dawson ahead of Pacquiao and Hatton in their p4p rankings. Keep up the good work. :hi:
the tread starter obviously in just a nuisance, does not know what he's talking about. pac being a WEAK P4P. i just fell down my chair in laughter. come on guys! no argument can ever prove that pac is a weak P4P. pac is now the best P4P. joe is very good but i just dont see him overtaking pac in no 1 because of he's victory over RJJ. like what they say. "THE BEST POUND FOR POUND FIGHTER TODAY" not the best p4p fighter yesterday. those are called ATG's you piece of ****.
Pac is the definition of a p4p fighter because quite simply he has shown his longevity and success over a wide weight range. You will not see anyone do what he has for a while.
I don't know who Nallage is, but I'm NallEge. I just know that after PAc beat Barrera and Morales, they both went down hill. J.M.M being in his prime has aged like fine wine. Look, Hop is still ranked in the top 10 pfp right now, and has not looked old yet. After Hop lost to Cal, and some think he beat Cal, Hop went on to beat a top 5 fighter pfp. He not only beat him, he totally outclassed him. What are Barrera and Morales doing now? Check the pfp list today, and see who is ranked in the top 10, Hop, Barrera or Morales. I'm not a hater. Pac beating those guys were very good wins, just don't act like those two were in their prime, and at their best. Not everyone can age like a Hopkins or Marquez. Barrera and Morales had long careers with many wars, and could've retired before they even fought Pac.
You can't find one thread where I said Pac was fighting oldies so stop lying... And read the posts next time and stop acting slow. Cal beating Jones does not count in anyone's mind.
