Just like athletes in every sport where individual success is impossible to accurately quantify, Robinson's stature as the GOAT is outrageously augmented by history and nostalgia. In any sport where we can reasonably compare today's athletes to those of yesteryear (Track & Field and Swimming come to mind), records are consistently being broken each and every competition. Athletes today are swimming faster, running faster, jumping higher, etc. Sports science is making advancements every day, and athletes are training harder and getting better nutrition. It's utterly ludicrous not to extrapolate from that that athletes in all sports today are better than those in years past.
