Pacquiao knockdown in Rd 3 far more telling then knockout in Rd 6?

Like i said he hurt pac in all of their fights. You dont need to be ready to go in order to be considered hurt.

Pac has also hurt Jmm in all of their fights but he never once seemed ready to go.

Jmm was trying to KO pac in the fourth fight...That wasnt his intentions in the other fights

Pacquiao has hurt JMM in the 4 times he had JMM on the canvas, and he hurt him in the 11th round on match 2 with an overhand when JMM does a chicken. Landing a big punch here and there and getting your opponent to cover up is not significant enough to say he "hurt" the fighter on that occasion. Its boxing, EVERY punch hurts, that's a fact, I guess by your logic next time somebody lands a jab I say fighter A hurt fighter B with that jab.

And like I said, look at that gif I posted, that punch is identical. It has nothing to do with "trying" or "not trying" to KO someone. Quite simply, one punch is pre-Heredia, another came post-Heredia...guess which did more damage?

JMm may have been on the juice but I'd be more concerned that a punch like that actually connected. A guy as good as Pac should have avoided that type of punch.

More concerning from a technical perspective because pulling straight back and moving the front foot backwards first is an old habit, but it was not a soft punch by any means. It rocked him in the first fight, and knocked him over in the 4th.

There are only so many highly skilled wars you can compete in before the armor begins to crack. Plus, his body is aging.

    Excellent post Bogo!:thumbsup

I guess although you are correct that simple adjustments like that can mean a difference of over 50lbs on impact, we also need to consider that both boxers "bulked" up.
This means more punch resistance for Pac (assuming his neck muscles did get stronger) and more offensive power for JMM.
We can also argue that although JMM was arguably pushing more power behind his punches courtesy of the new physique and the better momentum due to the better stance, Pac himself was in a much better defensive position (better balance and stance when the punch landed, he was more square on the fourth and was on an awkward twisted posture on the 1st) BUT was clearly not expecting the punch from the 4th fight (you can see that he reacted on the last second on the 1st fight, but was clearly dazed on the 4th).

It's a combination of a lot of things but I guess the biggest factor for me is JMM's new found strength.
How he got to his current level is subject for debate and criticism, but it doesn't remove the fact that he is a lot stronger in the 4th match -- as is their game plan -- and it paid off.

Packys punch reaction and resistance in that fight was clearly diminished. A clear sign of aging. Still this version of Pac would still be to much for Rios. No doubt about it.

:patsch you know pac has been showing signs of fading for a long long time now.. its no coincidence his punch resistance has dropped off a bit...

and the knockout punch would have ko'd just about anyone because pac got caught diving into it...iv been knocked down by a body shot i dove in on.. was on the ground for 5 minutes. the next week same guy hit me with atleast 10-15 shots to the same spot and i ate them no problem... it makes a huge difference

The 3rd round knockdown was set up by Marquez brutal body attack in that round that Pacquiao had been feeling.

If you look at the punch, Marquez dipped like he was going to the body again, and Pacquiao who was in a turtle like shell to cover up, dropped his guard sensing because Marquez had dipped low that he would go to the body. Instead, Marquez looped a powerful right hand over Pacquiao's guard who had come down.

Not just any fighter can set up that shot like Marquez did.

Marquez hired the top steroid expert on the planet living today, and he was also the top expert at cheating on the drug tests. Pac was on his way to a knockout victory, got over confident and took a big punch from Marquez that came from left field. Pac will knock Marquez out in a rematch, but Marquez is afraid..................he knows it was a lucky punch...........

The only lucky thing about that punch is that Pac came out of that coma with
    all his senses intact!
