I'm in the camp that thinks Marquez's conditioning regimen definitely affected his performance, but it's absurd to say he came in trying to collect a paycheck or didn't try to win. He never stopped trying. He never just shows up to collect. Anglo is a ******* troll that needs to go back to making threads about protein shakes.

 

Am I reading that Marquez didn't try against Mayweather and was there just to collect a check? That's new..

Put two equal skill level fighters and have one of them have the height and reach, be much quicker, faster, and stronger.......you're going to get what happened in Mayweather-Marquez!

Its common sense that the fighter thats bigger and have every physical advantage will have a fairly easy time with even a fighter of his own skill level.



Put a quicker, faster, and more aggressive fighter but who has much less skill than he does, you're going to get.........

It's kind of amusing how people use the FOURTH Marquez fight as an example of how Pac is overrated or somehow was never that good. Truth is, almost all great fighters have another opponent that just has a style that negates everything they do. It was obvious from the first fight that Marquez would always trouble Pac and the fact that Pac fought him 3 more times says a lot. How many fighters nowadays get a close decision and avoid rematches simply because they know that person will always give them a tough fight? A lot. Manny is not one of those fighters though.

People ignore Pac's whole career and act like he was a bum just waiting to be exposed. Did Manny have issues with GREAT boxers? Yes. But what does it say when those same GREAT boxers had a hell of a time with Manny? Does it mean the likes of Barrera, Morales, Marquez, and Cotto suck because they had struggles or got knocked out by Pac? You can't have it both ways and say a great boxer could beat Pac when Pac in fact has beat every great boxer he has been in the ring with at least once.

It's like people ignoring the signs of Mayweather declining a little and jack off when he get's hit. Manny had clearly been declining, which is common for a fighter with his style, hard fought career, and his outside obligations. A knockout loss does not mean someone was overrated their whole career. How many rounds did it take Marquez to finally knockout Manny? Now all of a sudden any great boxer would have done the same? Bull****. I'm actually a boxing fan and realize fighters like Manny and Mayweather are a rare breed and to say they are overrated is nothing but **** talk. I hate when great fighters hit the end of their career and their physical decline causes problems and all of a sudden people say "I told you he was overrated"

 

No, I take issue with idiots like Anglosaxon calling Pac green in their first fight, when they both had basically the same amount of fights, then everyone whoops about how improved Pac is, and Marquez moves up and gives him a boxing lesson.

 

Fair enough. I'm getting sick of people talking about Khan like he is an amateur still. I think Pac showed much improvement after the first Morales fight. I also think Marquez clearly won 2 of their fights. However, I think it's a testament to how great Pac is that even with his shortcomings he could give a great boxer in Marquez problems every time. Marquez, even in victory, had clearly been in a hard fight. Do I think just any good boxer could do what Marquez did? No. It took him a long time to finally get his W and a good boxer like Bradley was only in their to survive. In Pac's prime it would take much more then being a great boxer to beat him. You would have to have a ton of heart, a hell of a chin, and be ready to go to war.
