PACQUIAO. MARQUEZ. CALZAGHE. Who is the true p4p#1 right now?

I vote MANNY PACQUIAO as provisional #1 and JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ as provisional #2, with JOE CALZAGHE as #3.

Pacquiao has to be #1 just now IMO, because he has a 1-0-1 record against Marquez. Whether you think that's fair or not, we have to abide by the judges' decisions. However, the reason I say provisional #1 and #2 is because I personally think JM Marquez edged their second fight, so who is the better of the two is not settled, they MUST have a 3rd fight to prove who is the true world no1.

I have Calzaghe 3rd at this moment in time, because whereas Pacquiao and Marquez are currently taking on the toughest challenges, risking defeat to prove their greatness, Calzaghe is taking on a shot fighter for some easy money. If he fights a live opponent like Pavlik or the winner of Dawson/Tarver next and wins, depending on what happens with Pac and JMM, he may climb again, but as of now I think we have a clear world no1+2.

IF YOU ARE GOING TO COMMENT, PLEASE GIVE THE REASONS WHY YOU VOTED THE WAY YOU VOTED.

Has to be Manny Pac. He's not the best technically out of the top 3 but you can't really argue with his resume and accomplishments.

Marquez is now #2 by me after Saturday night with Calzaghe at #3.

I think the top 3 are a long way ahead of the rest at this moment in time.

I agree. We have a very clear top 3 just now.

I would say Israel Vasquez completes a top four which is miles infront.

    1. Pac
    2. JMM
    3. JC
    4. Vasquez

JMM edged Calzaghe having KO'd Casamayor

I didn't ask who it was last time you checked, I asked who you believe the best is. If you say Pacquiao, I agree with you.

Pacquiao takes the #1 spot for me, Marquez is getting close to #2 and secured the #3 spot and Pacquiao officially beat him once. Pacquiao's overall resume wins it for him at this point and it's only getting better.

PacMan's #1 status is based on a 'win' vs. JMM cosidered by MOST experts controversial - so how can he be a clear #1 after Saturday?

Here I'm officially voting for JMM as the P4P best boxer on Planet Earth, based on the win on my card vs. Pacquiao for the SFW championship and the TKO of Casamayor for the lineal LW championship.

Pacquiao, one of my favourite boxers, is a close second with his close loss to JMM on my card and a truly dominating win over C+ level (paper) champ, David Diaz. PacMan can get his #1 spot back with the knockout win over Oscar - the ending he promises and truly believes.

    Calzaghe moves down to #3.

Anyone who scored the fight for JMM can ask himself: a win on your card vs. one of the best in the sport and the win for the lineal LW is the better or a controversial win over JMM and a big win over no-hoper in David Diaz.

My vote is on Juan Manuel Marquez.

I'm now officially naming Manny Pacquiao overrated on the P4P rankings. The most I can say is that there's no clear P4P #1 unless PacMan fights JMM again or Calzaghe fights Kelly Pavlik. But hey, PacMan is going to offer a LOW purse for JMM to see if the Mexican if after him or the money. The f*cking *****.

Why do we "have to abide by the judges decision"?

If its a steaming pile of horse **** we don't. We are allowed to form our own opinions, and if people think Marquez beat Pacquiao's ass not only once but twice showing he is the superior fighter, as well as a convincing win over Casamayor whilst Manny took the easiest available option with David Diaz then they may put him over Pacquiao.

Imo Pac and JMM are pretty close but Pac edges it narrowly with Joe C. beeing quite a bit behind.

Unless the decision is a blatant robbery (which neither Pac-JMM fight was, they were both so close) then The Ring or any other influential pound-for-pound listing should abide by the judges' decisions IMO, otherwise what's the point of judges? By that logic, the organizing bodies should be able to reverse decisions if the suits disagree with the judges.

My intention was to see who people think SHOULD be the no1 in reality, not personal opinion over who won the 2nd Pac-JMM fight, and as The Ring is the definitive p4p ranking, I think they should stick with Pac as a provisional #1 til JMM and Pac fight next - note that I said provisional because I, like you, believe JMM won their 2nd fight.

Maybe there should, for the 1st time ever, be a joint no.1 in light of JMM's superb win v Casamayor. That would really put the pressure on to get the final fight in the trilogy!!

I personally believe the first one should've gone to Pac because of one judge's error in the scorecards. That's a fact. With regards to my opinion, JMM may not have schooled Pac for most rounds if not all, except the first if not for Pac's badly damaged fists from his 3 kds of JMM (no need to add the stupid socks to the equation). For the rematch I think it was a draw since both judges, Duane Ford and Jerry Roth scored it 115-112 in favour of both fighters, which means the win could really go to either fighter. The fact and my opinion is Pac won against Marquez.
    1-Pac
    2-JMM
    3-Campbell
    Just my opinion.
