I know we've seen a million threads on this but I dont care . I've watched this fight again . No slow mo or any other bull****, just trying to view it as objectively / fairly as possible and score the effective rounds. Feel free to comment and offer your take without any fanboy bull**** , I'm not gonna even bother replying to that. 1 Pacquiao 2 Marquez 3 Pacquiao 4 Pacquiao 5 Marquez 6 Marquez 7 Marquez 8 Marquez 9 Pacquiao 10 Pacquiao 11 Pacquiao 12 Pacquiao Pacquiao 115-113 Facts about this fight: 1. Every single round minus the 5th and 11th were close/ fairly close. 2. Compubox has Pacquiao landing more punches in the fight, including power punches. ****** Up until the 5th round this fight was very slow paced and tough to score; however looking carefully at who landed the more effective punches and who actually LANDED punches Pac took most of those early rounds. Marquez was laying back too much and being inactive. edit: Round 1 you could give to Marquez , 2 is extremely close. Giving Marquez round 1 on my scorecard makes it a draw. In the 5th round, Marquez came on very strong with good counter punching and leading more with his punches. He kept up this momentum until the late rounds where Pac began to step on the gas and pick up the pace. Conversely, Marquez slowed down in the late rounds and by all accounts gave away the 12th. Pac has a good round 9, 10, and his best round of the fight in Round 11. Marquez gives away the 12th by backing off and Pac seals the deal with a flush straight left hand at the end of the round. Steward in the late rounds : "Pacquiao is cut and Marquez is not taking it to him, he needs to take it to him more ." Nacho Beristain tells Marquez in the late rounds that he's winning the fight. Bad advice? Clearly. I'll challenge anybody to view the rounds I scored for Pacquiao objectively and find a compelling / overwhelming reason to give it to Marquez. The rounds I scored for Pac were based on effective punches and punches landed. Marquez BEST rounds were in the middle - 5-8. Pacquiao's best rounds were the late ones, 9-12. The early rounds were very slow and hard to score but Pac DID more and LANDED more in those rounds. You could also argue to give Pacquiao one of the middle rounds such as round 7 , but I gave all of those to Marquez. I won't argue too much with anybody that had Marquez winning as it was an extremely close fight.. but calling this a robbery / schooling of any kind is fanboy bias / irrationality of the highest order. Doing way better then everybody expected is NOT the same as winning the fight.
**** thread *******! Regardless you and every other pac fan werent impressed with his performance in fact mostly everryone thinks Pacquiao has lost a step and will never be able to deal with a clever live opponent at this weight class. Why do you think he chose Bradley for his next fight? Bradley has no power, hes outgunned, **** defense, and to make matters worse the fight will be at 147.
I have to disagree. I have Marquez winning handily on my cards after watching the fight several times, and on that basis, I have to consider it an unfair decision.
Like I said I challenge anybody to find a real compelling reason to give rounds 1, 3, 4 to Marquez as well as rounds 9-12.
jmm fans are just fooling themselves by saying that marquez dominated pacquiao. watch the fight again and it's a close fight where pacquiao was the aggressor with marquez waiting for pac to commit some mistakes.
I get the feeling people score some of the rounds for Marquez only on the basis of him being DEFENSIVE and making pac miss some of his shots. That's not enough to win rounds, you have to actually land punches. And on those merits, Pacquiao outlanded him many of the rounds which is why he won them.
I gave 4, 9, and 10 to Marquez on the same criteria I'd judge any fight; landing the more clean effective punches. You don't have to have a "compelling" or dramatic case for winning a round if you won it fair by that basis.
Pacquiao-Marquez 3 10-9 9-10 9-10 9-10 9-10 10-9 9-10 9-10 10-9 9-10 10-9 9-10 112-116 Marquez How the **** do you have Pacquiao winning the 12th?
Early rounds were swing rounds. I could give Marquez Round 1 , but 2 could go either way as well. They're hard to score. 9 and 10 I have for Pacquiao, I thought he outworked Marquez and has his best showing in the late rounds. I use the word 'compelling' bc the fight is so close you to have to provide convincing reason why one guy absolutely deserved that round. I'm not arguing absolutely that Pacquiao won... I'm arguing that he won an extremely close fight, and that it was no where close to a robbery.
Marquez didn't do anything in the 12th. Pacquiao landed a flush left at the end of the round. You have Marquez winning round 11, which is Pacquiao's best round in the fight.
Sorry that was a typo, I fixed it. Pacquiao didn't do much in the 12th either and Marquez landed cleaner punches.
