I think they'll do comparable numbers. I don't see Floyd - Ortiz being a huge event. People only care about the main event, and Ortiz isn't a name opponent.

Probably Mayweather-Ortiz. Two American fighters are going to sell better than a fight with zero American fighters. Plus Floyd's big mouth and marketing brain know how to sell a fight, his bull**** will attract the three-fights-a-year part-time fans to part with their cash, Pac and Marquez are just fighters who rely on their promoters, they don't bother with self-promotion to the same extent.

(even though Pac vs JMM is the better fight because of the backstory and the quality of both guys)

The question shouldn't be who wins? The question should be how much more money will Floyd's fight make over Manny's fight?

*******ation at its worst. If you look at the overall scenario of both fights from a neutral point of view, you will see why the May vs Ortiz fight SHOULD outsell Pac vs. Marquez. But we won't know until the fights happen and all the numbers are in.

should ? why ? Since when is Ortiz even a name in boxing? Does anybody even know who he is outside of hardcore boxing fans? Casual fans only care about the main event , that's what draws the larger part of the audience in. People like you in me are a miniority of the PPV buys.

Marquez is at least a name and he'll draw a lot of the mexican fans. Plus it's the third fight of a trilogy , just wait till the hype machine starts. I have nothing against floyd - Ortiz btw, I'm gonna watch it, but I'm not paying for it. Your all pretty deluded if you think this is gonna do insane numbers.

I hope both ppvs do well. I expect more ppvs from Floyd because his market consists of everyone, and the anticipation of seeing Floyd after the layoff. Pacquiao-Marquez is the better fight, but will the non Filipino and non Mexican fan invest in this fight? I will.

you obviously didn't read the last part of my post. And based on your post history one can clearly see that the majority of your post including this one are biased in favor of Pac. Nothing wrong with that. But neutral your not.

Pacquiao/Marquez III is gonna be a competitive fight while Mayweather/Ortiz is gonna be a mismatch. Which one should be selected?

i did read the last part of your post and you still didnt explain why Mayweather - Ortiz should outself Pac - JMM. I'm not being biased , I'm just being real. Maybe it will outsell Pac's fight, but I don't see any reason for it to greatly outsell it, even if it has a good undercard. Boxing nowadays is all about the main event. When the casual fan sees Mayweather - Ortiz, the first question is who the f* is Ortiz? Then they just figure Mayweather's gonna beat him easy anyway. If Floyd's PPV does well it's because he's fighting so infrequently, and people are always going tune in for that small chance that he loses. Pac and Floyd are both at a level now where they can fight just about anybody and make big numbers. Unless you actually think Floyd- Ortiz will outsell Floyd - Mosley, there's no reason to think it's gonna easily outsell Pac - JMM III.

    this one's for Gander

why May vs Ortiz should sell more than Pac vs Marquez

Mayweather = atleast 1 million PPV
May's fighting again after long layoff
    Ortiz is a WW champ
Perception that Ortiz is a big and dangerous opponent
    Fight is happening first
And a effin awesome dual site undercard that is stacked

    Pac vs Marquez
Pac and Marquez atleast 1 million PPV
Trilogy does bring interest from the fighters fan base.
Pac last few fights have not been to fan friendly(even though they sold well)
Marquez is seen as being to old and WW record is not very favorable
    Catchweight fight
Bob Arum could totally ruin it with crappy undercards(Arce vs Vasquez Jr. the exception)
    Fight to compete with UFC.

From a neutral boxing point of view I see the May vs Ortiz (1.4-1.6 million)outselling the Pac vs JMM fight(1.1-1.3 million).
