Let's see. We both know that both fighters used Oscar de la Hoya as a stepping stone to get ppv numbers.

When Pacquiao fought Hatton and Hoya they were during recession.
When Mayweather fought Hatton and Hoya who's fans do you think made that much number? We both know that Mayweather doesn't have much fans.

Pacquiao drew about 700K by himself against Clottey who is not really popular. Note that there wasn't much promotion for that fight. They just announced it and that's it. How much do you think Mayweather would've made if he fought Clottey.

    Pacquiao and Cotto 1.25.
    Mayweather and Mosley 1.4.
    There is 150k difference.
Again, how many fans were there to support Mayweather for his fight during Mosley? Who were they chanting for?

Anyway, I don't care who gets the higher split, but 50/50 is good enough. I mean both boxers would make 30-40 million each. Isn't that enough?

I want to see this fight made but I doubt Mayweather is man enough to fight Pacquiao.

You really believe people bought the ppv because mosley was in it?
Yes they were supporting mosley, but if he wasn't fighting mayweather, they would of done ****, and the mosley/mora numbers will prove it.

Cotto has a big fanbase, Mosley not so much.

MP is a foreign fighter. Floyd was televised on the Olympics and promoted by one of the biggest networks and without question the biggest boxing network in the world.
Floyd has been marketed since the mid 90's to American sports fans. Foreign fighters have always had a more difficult time with PPV because America loves their athletes.

Manny has 2 and 3x his PPV buys since he first appeared as the headline. Don't forget how popular MP is around the world and how many fans use other means and companies to watch his fight compared to Americans who have the luxary of having huge cable companies across the country.

He is also gaining more fans as for the last few months Floyd's strange cowardly behavior is making Manny look even more dangerous which will enhance every fight he has. It is coming thru strong that he is clearly the best fighter in the world and his numbers and revenue will show this to be the truth going forward.

Yeep, they wanted to see him KO Mayweather. Listen if he wasn't fighting Mosley, say he fought Clottey instead do you really think that they would've made 1 mil? In my opinion, Mora's 2 year time off damage his popularity and Mosley's previous lost to Mayweather damaged his marketability. I'm not surprise that the fight wouldn't do a lot of numbers.

They want to see ANYONE knockout floyd, thats why he makes big numbers.

    And mosley was never marketable.

Luckily being in the UK i get Pacman and Mayweather fights not on PPV. But if either of them were to be shown on PPV over here i wouldnt pay for Mayweather unless he was in with Pacman, id pay for any Pacman fight.

These PPV figures are only really based on American PPV figures and Americans favour their home grown king over a foreign one.

If this fight was to be made and was to be made PPV all over the world it would be Manny fans boosting the sales up just as much if not more than Floyd. So im not sure how much credance is in the argument for Floyd being the bigger pull.

Interpret it how ever you want, thing is the money that is being made is still because of floyd, even if Pacman is the more popular fighter worldwide.

So Clottey will be have the same impact as Mosley? Remember that Mosley came off a recent spectacular KO win against Mayorga and Margarito before he fought Mayweather. Most boxers who wins excitingly increases their marketability.

You might be onto something. Maybe that's the "urge" the Pretty One was talking about? He doesn't have the "urge" to be knocked out... <snicker> :smoke

That's not really the explanation that he's looking for but that adds to Pacquiao's credibility to sell fights.

    Correction:

This fight will NEVER happen. Not even for 100 million dollars. Floyd Mayweather never fought one top fighter in their prime ever in his career. While they were out there when he fought as Manny is now he never took the challenge because he became addicted to the invincible status. Even after he got out landed every round from 5-12 vs Castillo and lost he kept talking more keeping the hype train going. He came back to make money and pad his record more with fights vs big names who were 60% at best of what they were at peak.

Look at the warriors Manny fought and look at the fighters Floyd faced. There you will find who is ducking clear as day and why Floyd will not face Manny. Floyd wants absolutely no part of Manny. He knows Manny is a beast and uses the steroid claim as his cover. When Manny called his bluff Mayweather's world unraveled.

isnt the PPV numbers decided only on American Buys? or something like that?
