“Pacquiao-Mayweather Jr is one of those fights which we have not seen in a long time,” Leonard told SecondsOut. “Either guy is capable of beating the other.”

True but Pac vs money may would be 100 times bigger than pac vs marq for casual boxing fans and would have everyone talking. It would definetly lift the sport.

Oh boy, here we go again. People getting the false perception that some big fight will revitalize boxing. Did PBF/DLH do that?

As long as there are 15 belts in each division to go along with everything else that's wrong with boxing, things won't change. The foundation needs to be changed. Big fights aren't a change from the foundation. It's a superficial tease. When the fight ends, the problems remain.

The term "world champion" means nothing in boxing. It actually means someting in the UFC. Sad but true.

Co-sign, but its still a fight that will give boxing the mainstream push it needs.

So Sugar Ray Leonard have not heard of a Floyd September 19 superfight against a smaller, older, slower, weaker and lesser skilled opponent?? This September 19 Floyd megafight is suppose to lift boxing too...;) Just like how Floyd's "Stinko de Mayo" superfight with Hoya lifted boxing... That "Stinko" fight met all expectations...:D

That's clearly not his point. A fight with Mayweather would be HUGE and very popular, far more popular than the Marquez fight.

so why again is he fighting Marquez in the first place?

it'll probably drum up some interest in the african american fanbase but not much. Everyone would rather see Pac vs (insert Arum Bum Brother here).

Pac has no chance? Oh yeah, I remember. That's the usual prediction in most of his fights since Ledwaba.

WE (ESB) all want PBF v. PAC. The problem is that Joe Public couldn't pick Manny Pacquiao out of a lineup (this coming from a certified *******). Mayweather is a superstar but not a guy who's as recognizable as say Oscar DeLaHoya or Mike Tyson. If Mayweather v. Pacquiao is to become a HUGE event, it starts with the promotion of the JMM fight and the Cotto fight.

Great point. But getting rid of those sanctioning bodies will take a lot of time. A pac vs pbf fight is a good start for boxing.

They were referring to him saying "either man can win" I believe.
