not fighting each other than they would from losing to each other.how often do you have the 2 best fighters of their generation fighting at the same time,in the same weight division?the 2 best of the last generation were arguably jones & whitaker,a fight that could never have happened,but pac-mayweather can & should.if it doesnt it'll be a black mark on both fighters legacies,because neither could truly say they fought the best. assuming mayweather beats mosley(a fight which could go either way)the fight needs to happen this year.
Pacquiao - Mayweather needs to happen for the sake of boxing. This will be looked back on as more of a blunder than Bowe throwing the belt in the bin to run scared from Lennox Lewis, which to me, as a boxing fan.. was the most disgraceful, embarrassing moment in boxing history.
i agree,its very rare that dream fights become a reality & they are the two absolute best fighters of this generation,i need to happen for boxing like you said.
I'm not sure it will effect either mans legacy in a significant way. If the fight never happens, we will all just be doomed for 100 years of ESB threads debating who would have won. Both mens achivements stand on there own. And most people consider Pac the better fighter already. He doesn't need a 'w' over Mayweather to be considered the better fighter.
