terrible writer it takes him 20 paragraphs just to make 3 actual points *Juan throws combos more often than Floyd does. People need to open their eyes up and see that Marquez also had plenty of success with just 1 punch counters in their fights *Lateral movement. His best point. Then again Floyd isn't a combo happy fighter. He doesn't need to move his feet to get a new angle for firing the next punch in a combo. Mayweather has other tools in the box for defense instead of moving using a bunch of movement. *Workrate is his weakest point of all. emmanuel doesn't throw no 800 punches a fight against someone with actual boxing skill. Every Mayweather opponent is forced to lower their output.
He makes a good point about Mayweather being against the ropes a lot against Ortiz, that could be dangerous when you consider how fast Pacquiao is.
thats true, but even if pacquiao has a blueprint, if the other guy dont have no balls and just keeps on yapping whats the use
The article is defiantly has errors, one it portrays floyd as a static type fighters when floyd is just the opposite .. What I mean the article that floyd defense is his upper body where Marquez is his feet .. Anyone that has watched floyd fight he will utilize ether or depending on the circumstances, and what style the opponent is using .
The more articulate posters here have stated similar breakdowns (myself included) about the differences b/w JMM's countering style vs Floyd's, ie leaner vs mover, as it pertains to a Pac matchup. Simply put, Pac looks vulnerable if you maintain distance, but looks like a million bucks if the opponent stands their ground. Floyd is no longer the mover he was in his heyday (and by heyday I mean when he actually had a nutsack).
Mayweather finds himself on the ropes because he knows how to and likes to fight off of them. Try to recall all the best shots you seen land on Floyd, they didn't happen when he was fighting with his back on the ropes. emmanuel will square his shoulders and negate his own southpaw angles, which makes him easier to counter and defend against, if he tries to attack Floyd on the ropes. There were times in the Cotto(e) fight where emmanuel could have got it had Cotto(e) have them Benitez type of skills. emmanuel's trainer roach knows about Floyd's tactics on the ropes. He once said Mayweather lures people there to give em a false sense of confidence. Only person I seen that could compete on the ropes with Floyd was Castillo, but emmanuel is nothing like that.
Don't confuse style with cajones. Let's just say once upon a time Floyd didn't leave any doubt, like when he automatically rematched Castillo. Today he hides behind purse splits. Is that more crystal for ya?
And you have Neymar on yours. It doesn't mean one can't be pragmatic in evaluating style matchups. I don't apologize for being a fan of certain athletes.
pacquiao couldnt even conjure up a blueprint to defeat juan marquez, hes not winning more than one round against floyd if he ever steps up.
He loathing at least 4 to Judah. I gave him i think the first 4 rounds or 4 of the first 5 I can't remember. And I gave Corley 2 or 3 rounds i think all early but Floyd wasnt fighting his fight he was obviously trying to make exciting fight(which he did). Also you can argue Ortiz took a round. Either way scared or not i don't see Floyd losing this. Everyone said Calzaghe was scared of Lacy and i think he was and i think ****** even said it but that didnt matter come fight night now did it? I definitely think its a mix between ego an the small chance that he could lose his 0. It sad because like Calzaghe this fight could make his career esp if he dominated Pacquiao.
hell no. Mayweather CLEARLY won the third round vs Judah. The first round I gave to Floyd, but could go either way. Ortiz didn't win ****. Period. Floyd out landed him in every round by a good margin. Corley can only say he won the third and even in that round, Floyd was coming back to beat his ass at the end of the round
Some of the reasons mentioned are why the fight was so intriguing a year or two ago. I know it's become abit of a cliche but the 2009 version of Manny did pose problems for Mayweather
