Pacquiao/Mosley - Keys To Victory.

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by checklefthook, Feb 18, 2011.

  1. People will believe all Pacquiao has to do is fight his fight and he will win.

But each fight is different, so wha do you think are each fighters keys to victory?

    Pacquiao
    - Stay active, throw punches in bunches, keep Shane on the defensive. By doing this Manny will make Shane hesitant to come in and Shane will become a sitting duck for Manny.

    - Keep moving, by constantly moving in and out, side to side Manny will become unpredictable, this meaning Shane won't figure him out.

    - Attack Shane's body early, I know a lot of people will think Manny will just hit Shane freely however I feel with a man of his age, it is just human knowledge that he will tire out faster than his younger days. Shane may well be active for the first 3/4 rounds, if Manny can pot shot, and attack his body Shane will be a sitting duck.

    - Move to Shane's left so he is moving away from Shane's power right hand, this way Manny can double jab and throw the right hand and connect almost everytime.

    Shane
    - Circle to Manny's right, stay on the outside of Manny jab. This will reduce Manny's ability to throw the straight left, however Shane must beware of Manny's right hook which is now a main weapon.

    - Control the distance, to win this fight Shane must JAB, by jabbing Shane will be able to disrupt Manny's pattern and punch output and control te distance, the jab will help set up the right hand.

    - Be precise, it's no secret Shane is old, if he lunges in, throws a great amount of punches per round, Shane will tire, if Shane can be precise and hit Manny with good hard shots rather than pitter patter air punches he will do damage. (Let's be honest Shane won't win a decision).

    - Mix up his attack, just headhunting Manny will not work, he is too quick for that. Manny's side to side movements are good, however if Shane can use his distance and time Manny, a good hook to the body may be enough to get Manny's attention.

Think of anymore and add your own!

    Fight Prediction: Pacquiao TKO 9.

Shane really needs a strong jab not his flappy version he uses. Hes got to land big and early and some how get his punches off. I just cant see him doing it. Pacs movement and speed will be too much and Shane will just be turning and tuning without throwing i think we could see a late stoppage - but shane does have one shot stopping power so u cant write him off totally but if he struggled with mora then hows he going to keep pac honest

Good analysis. Can't really think of anything to add to this, other than:

Manny - Don't engage in a war. Just don't do it. There's no need for it. You can box and move, and make it a very easy night for yourself. But the moment you tap your hands and invite him in to trade, you'll increase his chances of causing an upset.

Mosley - Relax, man. Just relax. No need to be nervously bouncing on your toes, tensing up, and tiring yourself out. And throw that jab out confidently. Not them little peppering ones that you usually do, otherwise Manny will time them with his left and smack you in the mouth, or throw a right-hook over the top bruise your left eye up.

The more I think about it the more I can't see what Mosley can really do to win.

I think Mosley has to put all his eggs in one basket and go for the KO and early. Pacquiao isn't hard to hit so he needs to just go for it.

And like someone said quit all that bouncing and tension.

Pac with his in and out tactics is extremely hard to hit for an old washed up fighter that can not pull the trigger any more. It's not the sheer speed of your hands but your reflexes and timing that are the most important. Mosley is not getting any better at this age and after a sustained beating he received from Floyd

Mosley caught Floyd and Floyds a hell of a lot harder to hit than Pacquiao. Even Margarito caught Pacquiao and Mosleys much quicker than Margarito.

Shane needs to fight a fight that he is not willing to fight. First he needs to stay out at a long range and make Manny come to him and over extend himself trying to land combos on Shane. He also needs to fight on the inside and ruff Manny the hell up when he is there. Tie his left arm up and shoot to the body. (liver) He also needs push and shove after he misses at times and lean on Manny. Shane needs a mean streak going into this fight. He is way too busy smiling and acting like he is going to a concert and Richardson is too busy doing the same thing. Shane is not willing to take it there. I know he is old and he needs to do the things that the TS said but he is not willing to go there. He needs to spend a lot of time on that jump rope and doing road work along with tying his right hand behind his back and throwing 1000 stiff jabs a day. lmao!!

    Pacquiao

Go in & out picking your shots and throw punishing straights to the body to take away Shane's already horrible stamina. Adopt a similar strategy to the De La Hoya/Cotto/Barrera 2 fights. Don't stand in front of him like Moorer did against George, use plenty of lateral movement to befuddle Shane and stay off those ropes. Don't lunge in with shots as Shane still has fast handspeed and could still dish out powerful shots. Keep your hands up and counter his weak, pawing jabs then get outta there. Basically be mobile and counter him in a punishing fashion as Shane will throw weak jabs so make him pay for doing so.

    Mosley

Really think about if you want to continue your career after taking this beating and manage your money well.

Some of those aren't good ideas, Mosley moving to the left, Mosley's best punch is his right hand so that isn't the best idea, he needs to move to the left and get his left foot inside Manny's right foot and this worked against Collazo once he's landed it and steps out yes step to the left (mannys right). Mosley jabbing - well maybe yes but Mosley doesn't have the best jab but yes he could use it. Manny going to the body - Manny isn't a great bodypuncher and this will leave him open to big counters from Mosley or let Mosley exchange bodypunches and we know Shane is a beast of a bodypuncher

Manny moving in and out, stepping off to the right on his way out and keeping a red hot pace will probably take the wind out of Shane's sails and is probably their plan. Manny needs to keep his hands up because he'll be open to Shanes right otherwise
