OK, but come on dude, Pacquiao is just a level above anyone at 140 through all the way to 154. He'll run through Marquez, Ortiz, Bradley, you name it, and still no one will be satisfied with him. That's why I feel Pacquiao has no option other than to fight Martinez, because it's a massive risk, with huge reward.

160 for Pacquiao may sound laughable, but with Mayweather unlikely to fight Pacquiao - there is really no one out there who can challenge him other than Martinez.

Besides, only an illogical fool would discredit Pacquiao if he was to lose to Martinez at 160. Pacquiao giving Martinez a hard time deserves credit in it's self.

Pacquiao is just to good, but is losing motivation because no one can even put up some sort of fight against him. I believe Pacquiao is yet to reach fulll gear yet, no one has really engaged with this guy for years.

I agree but like Arum said "You can't ask Pac to give up what could be a 30lb advantage on fight night."

It's his health he's putting on the line.

That being said, I think he could win with a Henry Armstrong type of gameplan. Getting his head down and doing whatever he can to get inside.

P4P top-2 fighting with 20+ pounds between them and heavier being a knockout machine. or.. Boxing's only global star to retire because he keeps winning.

    Those are horrible options.

It would be amazing way to end his career tho, imagine being there live as he pummelled martinez into submission... What a moment that would be. Right up there with fitz knocking out corbett, langford knocking out wills, armstrong beating ross. This one victory jumps him about ten-fifteen places on am atg list.

Martinez just said he can make 154.

Even at that weight, Martinez will outweigh him by 20lbs+ during fight night, ergo very risky for Pac.
In that scenario, I can't see Pac KO-ing a fighter with a huge 20lb+ advantage.
I can see him wobbling or backing Sergio up ala Margarito tho.
But any lucky punch that Sergio can sneak in can make Pac hit the canvass.
And what happens if Pac completely outboxes Sergio?
Haters are gonna say he's old and shot and not in his prime weight.

    It's a lose-lose scenario for Pac.

But I have to say never again will the boxing community be "spoiled" by a fighter like Pac.
7-8 divisions and we want him to go for the 9th? Now that's special.
Hate all you want but fact is, this generation of boxing will be marked by the accomplishments that Pac made, all of his other contemporaries only a distant second to him.

10-20 years from now all your children and grandchildren will marvel at the wonder that is Pacquaio.

For all we know, Pac prolly learned his lesson from all the fighters that just didnt know when to call it quits or to just disappear on the horizon.. He no longer need anybody actually, and everyone will either fight for retirement money, or for name recognition.

At this point I almost fully agree, the first fight that should be attempted is Mayweather, but its unlikely. SM is talking moving back to 154 so that would be an ultimate superfight, a fight worthy of the fans 55 bucks, and probably a much more entertaining fight than Mayweather. However, I doubt Arum would push his cash cow in a spot where he is not highly favored, even though win or lose for Pac it would probably be a tremendous action fight and even in defeat he would gain much respect. Its obvious to me with Pac, he needs to be challenged in the ring to look good, it pumps him up to really fight, he's only as good as his dancing partner as he hasn't shown lately the will to kill if his opponent is not on his level. I like this fight, but at 154 and SM can make that weight no problem.

Oh please, are you still going on about Mayweather? This fight was ****ing buried two years ago. Get with the freaking times, Pacquiao isn't waiting for Floyd, and Floyd neither wants to fight Floyd. Accept the fight isn't happening for heavens sake.

Look Pacquiao has done the impossible already, but fighting these guys now is no longer enhancing his legacy much further. Any fight 1t 147 is practically pointless, no one can challenge him, why not try to pull off the most unrealistic thing in boxing history? He has nothing to lose vs Martinez, no one expects him to beat Martinez - there is no SHAME.

Exactly. Apart from Mayweather (not happening) only Martinez will bring into the top 5 of all time. Pacquiao is only fighting for money now, and the result is almost written on paper before his fights even start.

Why not try something unheard of in boxing? It would be simply phenomenal for Pacquiao to beat Martinez..
