Pacquiao needs a new trainer

hes 34 and physically is still quite phenomenal. Someone Like virgil could do wonders for him but it wont happen. Roach has pretty much raised pacquaio and I can never envisage manny making such a decision even though he should...

He will stick with Arum and Roach sadly...

 

i agree. roachs style leaves fighters vulnerable to counters. but, manny is so loyal, doubt he leaves

 

You ever seen Manny fat and out of shape between fights? No at that level is in fighting shape all of the time. Training camps have a limited duration because it's easy to over-train or to peak too early.

It's doubly amusing to use the K brothers as an example since they are also involved in politics in their home country and Vladimir was dating a 21 year old actress for a while, popping up in unexpected social situations.

To fight twice a year you're looking at about 4 months of actual training time. You're not going to be sparring or doing serious training outside of that because risking injury when you aren't preparing for a fight is stupid. You might run or stay in the gym, but plenty of fighters don't do that and it doesn't make them less "full time."

It's incredibly stupid to expect boxers to think about nothing but boxing year round when they're only fighting twice a year. These are people with lives, and interests, and hobbies and friends.

Is he coming in to fights out of shape? Is he failing to show up for workouts (like Chavez Jr.)? Is he getting arrested, caught doing drugs, is he an alcoholic?

What would you like him to do in the 8 months a year that he isn't training or fighting, to prove that he's a "full-time fighter?"
