Pacquiao not wanting to take a simple "random" drug test messed it up..

MANILA, Philippines – Seven-time world champion Manny Pacquiao has merely laughed off the drug testing issue being raised by Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s saying that the former pound-for-pound king is just trying to excuse himself from the fight.
“Marami lang siyang dahilan, marami siyang dinedemand. Siguro wala pa ‘yong fight, takot na,” said Pacquiao ("He has a lot of excuses, lots of demands. We're not even fighting yet but maybe he's scared already").
The Filipino champion, who recently won the World Boxing Organization welterweight title from Puerto Rico’s Miguel Cotto, said Mayweather maybe getting nervous with the idea of trading punches with him.
Thus, American boxer came out with a statement demanding an Olympic-type of dope testing.
“Sa akin walang problema kung gusto niyang lumaban. Fight kaming dalawa... pero kung medyo natakot siya -- palakasin muna niya loob niya,” said Pacquiao ("For me, I have no problem if he wants to fight... but if he's scared -- he needs time to improve his confidence").
Pacquiao made it clear he has no qualm in undergoing tests. What he’s opposed against is having him to give blood so near the March 13 fight date.
“Require natin lahat pati blood test... pero ‘wag naman doon sa day of the fight, manghihina ka naman noon,” he said ("Let's require everyone a blood test... but please not on the day of the fight, it weakens you").
The Filipino boxing star added that the Mayweather camp may also be using the issue to just to distract him.
“Gumagawa lang siya ng paraan, strategy niya para magalit ako... para ma-distract ako sa concentration sa fight,” said the reigning pound-for-pound king ("He's just making a way, a strategy to make me angry... to distract me out of my concentration in the fight").

The problem is that USADA already stated that it cannot change its protocol to accomodate the request of Manny to not have testing on the day of the fight. Since the Mayweathers already stated that the USADA testing is non-negotiable, that means they can't accept Manny's "no blood testing on fight day" request.

This means if Mayweather insists on USADA testing, and Pac also insists to no blood test on fight day (Manny is OK with urine test between rounds on fight day), the fight won't happen. This is why Arum suggested NFL/NBA testing which are more flexible and can accommodate Manny's request of NO blood test on fight day (aside from Arum hinting that USADA has been compromised with Tygart's relationship to GBP).

I could be wrong, im not a doctor, but im curious as to if hair samples would be better than urine or blood tests. From what ive read on it, a hair test actually detects the substance for a longer period of time than a blood or urine test. Anyone know?

Anyone who doesn't see that Manny is clean now will never see it regardless of the tests.

Think about it. If Floyd had accepted Manny's counter-proposal for the blood tests before the press conference, then randomly no later than Feb 13th, and then right after the fight, would you still have doubts about Manny's drug use? Obviously not.

The man is already the truth

here it is, loudly. are you trying to act as if the offer from manny pacquiao to take an equally conclusive, better timed blood test directly after the bout is not already on the table?
better timed in that it would ensure that both boxers blood levels remain uncompromised for the fight night...if so, there's a name for that... it's called denial.
don't keep clinging to the term random. there is nothing random about scheduling a three day window to test pryor to the fight. 2 to 5 days is flat specific.
the offer is equally there for floyd to accept or duck.

at this point we really dont know how much is hype to create pre buzz before official promotions begin. if legit, we don't know how much of what is being said /done from either party are in attempt to gain a mental edge. there are many variables and things to consider. In the end, all we know for a fact is that this is a huge fight with big $$$$ potential that will happen. Anytime you have GBP, Arum, Roach, Mayweather Sr., you are bound to get some drama - some hype, some legit.

by they way @ the thread starter: on the topic if Pac not agreeing to the blood tests, you cannot hold it against him, he has the right to not do it. Why would he, because Team Mayweather is accusing him of doping? The state athletic comission has their testing procedures in place that all boxers have to adhere to, including Manny Pacquiao, which he's never had a problem in doing. Team Mayweather isn't part of the commission and doesn't hold a position to say who should get tested and when, plain and simple.
