Knock down Pacquiao and earn $1,000, sparmates told

As in previous fights of his prized ward, trainer-coach Freddie Roach has again upped the ante for the Filipino’s training, staking $1,000 out of his own pocket to anyone of Pacquiao’s sparmates who could knock out the seven-time world champion.

Vanes Martirosyan is flying to Manila and accepts the challenge: “I am up for Freddie’s challenge. I will be the first to drop Manny,”

Peñalosa vows to make RP proud in final bout
Given a second chance to fight in Zamboanga City, former two-time world division champion Gerry Peñalosa promised not to let Zamboangeños and the entire country down when he faces Thailand's Yodsaenkeng Kietmangmee on Sunday.

Both Peñalosa and Kietmangmee cleared the 118-lb weight limit during Saturday’s weigh-in at the Grand Astoria Hotel.

Peñalosa said part of his prize money will be given to Gorres to help the former World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental bantamweight champion with his medical expenses.

    AJ vs. Perez in Cebu

After days of pondering where to hold the bout between AJ Banal and former world champion Luis Alberto Perez, ALA Promotions has finally decided to hold the bout in Cebu City instead of Dubai.

“We felt that it was too big a fight that the fans in Cebu, who have supported AJ through thick and thin especially from that devastating loss to Concepcion, deserve to witness. The fans in Cebu deserve another big fight from AJ Banal since this will be his biggest fight since (Rafael) Concepcion,” said ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer.

The Banal-Perez bout will be at Oct. 30 at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino.
