Very true chimba.... Damnit man, Pac is just in a class of his own. Also, I think he was hit with the kind of body shot that makes about 99% of other fighters, elite or not, go down to a knee. From Gatti to Hoya. And he took it from a man who outweighed him by close to 20lbs :-( I salute Pac. What a warrior.
Hes not going to be able to keep this up much longer.... From Morales 1, to JMM twice, to the grueling training camps and sparring wars at wildcard, to the Margarito fight, coupled with his long career and his age..... I would be a bit heartbroken, but I think Pac should think about retiring very soon. Just because hes dominating these fights, doesnt mean they (and the sparring wars) arent going to take their toll on the man, Id like to see this warrior king go out before being forced out. I know most fans dont like to hear that, but he deserves more then to be talking with a slur in 8 years.
Its a bit corny and sentimental but this guy, you know hes got some internal damage. PAc he fights for the country and he means it. He has that weight on his shoulders and this is why he shows no pain in his expression even when hes hurt. Hes one who truly fights not just for the pinoys but for all boxing fans. His mantra has never wavered from day one, I want to make the people happy when I fight. And what really is a bit touching about last night is when Buboy was worried about him getting into exchanges and was desperately telling him to move away, there was real worry. But I can count the number of times these two traded in close quarters. He was classy in victory as well, thats when you see the true essence of a man and you know Garcia understood this and gave him props post fight. "This guys the best in the World " and he meant that in many ways. Pacs a true sportsman. In otherwords, he is a hero in my book as a sports figure can get, someone who you or your kids can look up to the way he handles and gives himself for really at the end of the day our entertainment. And coming from where he came from this guys one of a kind.
He was sublimely offensive from start to finish. But when he started pulling punches, that was the time I saw real greatness. He let his opponent walk with his shield. That was real class.
Absolutely. Fantastic athlete, fantastic man and a credit to his country and sport. Even the *****s, as deluded as they are, will start loving him soon.
Nice post, if he can't get a fight with Floyd he might as well retire. He has done more than what was expected from him. a dream final fight would be the part 3 with marquez in the phils as a gift to his countrymen.
I agree. Another brilliant performance by Manny, and now that he's got that 8th division title i'd like to see him retire. I know alot of people really want to see him fight Mayweather, they negotiated (twice) it didn't happen, so be it. I think he's earned the right to retire now. He says he'll fight on but if he does I hope it's a comparatively easier fight at 140 just as a farewell.
The guy epitomises the term 'sporting hero'. His attitude, skills, heart, work ethic, ability, class and personality define him. How can anyone deny his greatness and value to what is a dying sport??? Anyone who truly loves boxing should be glad for Pac for gracing this wonderful sport. Anyone who continues to deny his greatness and blindly follow the low-life that's FMJ really should follow UFC or similar.
I think it's funny that people don't understand that you can be a Floyd fan AND a PAC fan. Even though I feel that JMM beat him twice and that Floyd would beat him decisively, doesn't mean I haven't rooted for him and bought his PPV's damn near every time. ****, even Floyd roots for Pac, that just doesn't mean Floyd think PAC can beat him. Everyone I know loves Pac, but a lot of them still think Mayweather is too skilled.
