The only difference will be Maidan is coming off a win. It's common knowledge when a fighter is coming off of a loss, especially a top fighter, that his next opponent will be somewhat a soft touch, or at the very least a tailor-made opponent. Taking nothing away from Alvarez, but why all the shock and surprise, he was supposed to look that good last night.Thoughts.
@Manfred Yes, which is why I said the only difference is Maidana is the only one coming off a win as is Mayweather, which should give some credibility to Mayweaher/Maidana fight as opposed to the other two fights I mentioned. However I think the outcome will be the same for Mayweather as it was for Pacquiao and Alvarez. I'm really only referring to the commonality of the situation, boxing has always had an aire of predictability, it's always refreshing to see the mold cracked, will Maidana be able to do that, I don't see it.!
Maidana will do better than Angulo did last night, he won't throw arm punches from the opening bell, not saying he will land anything big but this man will try his utmost to **** Floyd up.
@shenmue I know Maidana will bring it, but stylistically he's already at a big disadvantage, and fighting the best P4P fighter right now puts him at a really big disadvantage. I certainly hope he does better than Angulo (and Rios to for that matter) but I see this match-up as being very similar to the other two matches I referenced.
Maidana is probably the 5th best win to be had at WW at the moment right now. Angulo was or was close to a top 10 victory to be had at JMW going into Saturday's fight... Rios was not among the 20 best victories to be had at WW at the time Pac fought him.
@buckdacious You are reading it very wrong, I'm comparing fights not fighters. Angulo has been punching bag as of late too.
