i am a pac fan since his early days but i wish i am as hopeful as you on the hoya fight. i really think that this is a cash-out fight and no matter how much oscar has regressed, i could not possibly think how pac could win or just survive.

david diaz was a good fight but i can see something in there that would likely trouble pac when fighting an even bigger opponent. if you noticed, pac have hit diaz too many number of times but diaz just took them like nothing. in a one-sided fight like that, it should be over in 3-5 rounds max no matter how tough your opponent is.

yes he is getiing better, no doubt about it. but you cannot always beat bigger opponents. theres a reason why even floyd is careful to choose his opponents when he was at welter.

Nobody should sign for fights they don't have the tools to win naturally.

Perfect choice for Pacquiao, he will get a lot of advice from someone as great as Whitaker, don't forget that Whitaker was in there with prime DLH as well.

Well, no matter what, seeing Pacquiao unlease the barrage of 5-6 combi is worth enough for me even if it ends with him on the losing side...

Let's not get too carried away.

He's not gonna try to be Sweetpea overnight. That's impossible.

He's probably just trying to study a couple of Whitaker's defensive moves and use it here and there, when the timing is right.

    Just pointers.

Like what punching angles are the hardest for Oscar to connect cleanly.

    Oscar's tendencies when punching flurries.

Realizing when Oscar is about to start cutting off the ring, and avoideing getting trapped on the ropes.

What is the best side to pivot and crouch away from when Oscar's trying to get aggressive.

Little stuff that might help him a bit.

Exactly. I don't know why many people suddenly assumed that Pac wants to be exactly like Pernell Whitaker. :huh

That's impossible. Pac is only trying to take a couple of points from the defensive master himself. Nothing wrong with that.

Well --- maybe he can pick out a few tips.
Bottom line is that Oscar is too big, too strong, and hits way too hard for Pac.
So he gets knocked out and takes the money.

I have a feeling Pac will be on the back-foot most of the fight, so it might not be a bad idea. We might see a whole new dimension of Pacquiao in this fight.

Yeah i mentioned this ages back when all the Pac fans were going crazy. Pac destroyed him but he was beating him up at will and it did take a long time to get him out of there. Though Diaz was too tough for his own good.
