It's more personal with Marquez because he had two great battles with him and Marquez still hasn't shown Pac any respect. Usually after 12 hard rounds (24 in this case) fighters should gain each others respect with what they go through against each other.

Marquez instead has gone out of his way to disrespect Pac, confronting him in the Phillipines when they were there to shoot some commercial, the lame t-shirt stunt and taking cheap shots at Pac and dismissing both decisions every opportunity he gets.

What should be remembered as two classic, thrilling bouts, a highly competitive battle most of the 24 rounds, is now overshadowed by the controversy created by Marquez's constant bitchiness over the decisions.

Pac's resentment is not something new. In a text message from 2008 sent to a Filipino reporter Manny wrote that he does not acknowledge any person who does not show respect and that,

“a REAL champion knows the meaning of respect!"

Looks like Pac is sticking to his guns. And Marquez's antics since have only served to strengthen Pac's resolve on this.

If Pacquiao and his *******s thought Marquez would show up in the Phillipines to sell himself out and kiss Pacquiao's arse over getting a commercial endorsement, thats simply not in Marquez character.

Marquez interest was in landing a 3rd Pacquiao fight.

Does anyone have the link to that callout by Marquez in the Phillipines.
I dont think that was disrespecting Pacquiao at all.

The jest of what Marquez was saying to Pacquiao at that boxing event in the Phillipines was, "are you willing to say right now that we fight a 3rd time. The people want to see a 3rd fight."

What basically happened was that Pacquiao right in his hometown was confronted with Marquez putting him on the spot to commit to a 3rd fight.

The best Pacquiao could do to answer Marquez was say, "anytime anywhere" and then go on about its up to his promoter.

......and btw, the Pinoy fans in attendance at that event were all applauding Marquez.
......according to Marquez afterward, he had nothing but nice things to say about the fans there who were telling him, "you beat Manny Pacquiao.":deal:yep

It would'nt suprise me one bit that Pacquiao was hazed by his own Pinoy fans in that event and calling him scared for not accepting the challenge point blank.

.........must be the reason why Pacquiao is bitter toward Marquez.

What Marquez did in challenging Pacquiao to a 3rd fight was not disrespectful.

If you want to talk about respect, when the subject of Pacquiao's qualities as a fighter, Marquez is quick to point to Pacquiao's strong points as a fighter and respects his abilities. Thats the ultimate compliment one fighter can say toward another.

I dont know if Pacquiao has reciprocated that respect toward Marquez in his native tongue, but I've just never heard Pacquiao credit and talk up Marquez skills the way Marquez and Nacho for that matter do so with ultimate respect toward Pacquiao.

It not suprising to me that a fighter in Pacquiao's position today, does'nt want to talk much about the fighter who twice conquered him........he can probably go on and on, on the subject of either MAB or Erik Morales.

This is a pointless thread. If JMM signs with Top Rank, all this **** goes out the window.

Was ringside at Wild Card 'n saw how Pac responds (even playfully) to disrespect during sparring.

Like a cat, Pac sprung in the air at eye level with undefeated Art Simonyan, executing a perfect spinning back kick past his nose, to remind him: “I have an answer for everything.”

“Oohs!” and “Ahhs!” went up all over WC from Pac’s faithful for his Matrix-like response to Simonyan’s transgression.

In frustration, Simonyan had playfully kicked Pac in the behind as the two headed back to their corners after sparring. Pac had floored him at the end of round one – the first time in 229 fights – amateur and pro – and consistently put him at the end of a straight left for six rounds.

Marquez has the right to be bitter. Just look at all the press-side scoring from the reporters at ringside. At least 90% of them thought he won.
