Juan is a potential PPV star. But he's not yet ready to be butchered. How many PPVs can they sell for Pac-Juan compared to Pac-Hatton??? In his next fight Juan is not even the Main event. Most Mexicans don't even know who Juan is.

Pac-David D is for Top rank showcase. It's for history also for Pac in his 1st step for 135 wt class. David will agree in a $1M range while Juan will ask for $2-3M. Maybe after Hatton then they can make the Pac-Juan fight, the fight will be much bigger by that time.

Why not fight Juan Diaz INSTEAD of David Diaz? Yes, Juan will ask for more money than David...Pacquiao will also make more and it will sell better. No one knows who David Diaz is, so that can't be a plausible as an excuse to not fight Juan Diaz, and Pacquiao stands to make even MORE history fighting a unified LW champion than some paper champion.

In other words, be a boxing fan and don't make excuses for him not fighting Juan. There are only 2 reasons he isn't. He either doesn't want to take a chance and Juan at this juncture and lose the Hatton fight, OR Top Rank is simply trying to match up it's own fighters. Don't downplay Juan Diaz as not ready or any other BS then push the David Diaz fight. It's insulting to boxing fans.

Pacman is my current favorite fighter. Fighting Juan Diaz is a much higher risk with the same reward as fighting David Diaz.

Not quite the same reward. After what Diaz did to Julio Diaz and Freitas, and being a unified champion, I think he is higher risk, higher reward. Just not more so than Hatton, so they don't want to take a chance.

So you're expecting Pac to win against Hatton?

Well, on the same note D. Diaz beat Morrales who even at this point is 100 times more popular than Freitas and Julio Diaz taken together. Thier respective popularity is a highly debatable subject, as none had their popularity defining fight yet.

True, but many felt he lost that fight and as far as I can tell, resent him for that.

But legacy wise, when people look back, I think it's fair to say that beating Juan Diaz at this juncture will be viewed as more impressive.

Even so, your reasoning is MUCH better than "Juan Diaz isn't ready and they are waiting for it to be a bigger fight."

Hatton said he's retiring soon. That's the reason Pac is rushing this fight. Juan is here to stay, he needs to be more popular.

BS to that. I think its more he makes 30M fighting both Diaz and Hatton. i can't see him making 30M for the Hatton fight.

30 Million? I wonder where they are planning on having this fight at and what type of PPV numbers are they expecting?

Of course, only an unreasonable fan will not accept this fact.

That being said, lets take RJJ for example and him fighting against Ruiz (the worst title holder at the time) and beating him. Don't you think it was better for his legacy rather than fighting against Vitaly Klitschko(who was recognized #1 HW at the time) and being sent to the hospital?
