Algieri is a great boxer.. Not too many people knew that he actually made an easier work on Taylor than Broner.. But his career highlight is actually his win over Provodnikov.. Who has Taylor beat? Karim Mayfield - Had wins over Mauricio Herrera and Steve Forbes.. Who has Provodnikov beat? Mike Alvarado - had wins over Mauricio Herrera, Brandon Rios, and Breidis Prescott.. He may be a great boxer but let's not forget, Pacquiao had hundreds of rounds against Khan who I think is a better outboxer than Algieri.. If we compare the techniques and the competition Khan and Algierie had, its a clear cut from A to B respectively.. Algieri has nothing to offer Pacquiao has not seen before.. :deal But then I could be wrong, strange things happen.. :smoke
Styles makes fight.................al is unbeaten and has a great jab and a above average chin.................
I think this will be a one sided fight....but just not the way people will expect. This will be the most shocking and eye opening fight of the year
easy work for Pacquiao. Algieri will find if he trys to really commit to that jab using it's full range then Pacquiao will slip it with ease and counter. The size difference doesn't help him like you'd think. Chris has to hold the centre of the ring...if he is the one getting backed up and moving along the ropes it's game over...
Saying Pacquiao will beat Algieri easily are strong words,,... If we take a look at Pacquiao's career,, he lose the fights where he was boxed and KOed,,... That's his weakness.....
Chris Algieri is probably the first fighter that Manny Pacqauio has faced in a long time that has any resemblance of technical boxing ability. Even when you look at someone like Timothy Bradley who had Boxing skills, but when the going got tough he was going to just drop everything and brawl. Algieri on the other hand really strikes me as a fighter that can Box that doesn't have that natural inclination to brawl when things go sour which means one of two things. He's more likely to stick to the game plan which is great but the downside is if that game plan isn't working he's more than likely to stick to it and make it a sour fight. I have to agree with you too, I don't give Chris Algieri much of a chance but I am interested in seeing if he has a chance, if that makes any sense. I want to watch Algieri try to out-box Manny Pacqauio and I want to watch Pacqauio try to murder him, it'll be a classic tale of Boxer vs Brawler.
Easy work for pacquiao, Chris Is a product of top rank promotions and idiots like duck_master is proof that Bob arum knows what he is doing.
I would say he has decent movement he beat Provodnikov in a 18 foot ring, tough to beat a goot pressure fighter in a small ring.
As a Pacman Fan, I am a bit worried that Manny could take this Algeiri too lightly and get a bad surprise. Algeiri may lack a huge punch and his ring experience could be better....but the man has the makings of a really good fighter. From what I have seen, this Algeiri is very, very smart and disciplined - he has a mind that transcends the Boxing Ring and makes him more formidable than a lessor intellect would be in his body. If there was ever a Boxer who could put together a near-perfect plan for defeating Pacman given an Algire-type skill set - then I think it would be Algeirie. Yeah...the guy spooks me a bit.
I just got through watching the first round where Provodnikov busted Algiere and closed his eye (and Algieri went down). Then, a few seconds later Algeiri went down again...but he did so willingly because he was hurt by Provocnikov once again and needed the break. However...all during the beating Algieri was taking, he never lost his head and always did the right thing. THAT...is Mental Strength. Keeping your head and executing your plan when a Human Pitbull like Provodnikov is chewing ton your arse takes control - and a whole lot of belief in your training and skills. And just to think...he's only been in 21 Pro Boxing Matches. Just Amazing.
