    Just watch Katsidis vs. Marquez...

Katsidis a naturally flat-footed had his best moments when he fought Juan in a Telephone Booth-approach... never allowing Juan the needed space to throw his long jabs and counters as Juan has physically long arms.

In fact Katsidis almost won against Juan if only he had a better chin and had more pop in his punches.

Watch the entire fight. He flat-footedly (not the lunging jumping in-and-out style of Pacquiao) and effectively punishing Marquez, unfortunately those punches had no power.

We know Pacquiao is an in-and-out type of fighter but making him approach Marquez close quarters and in a flat-footed manner will make this effective for him.

He will be negating Juan's long arms and needed space as a counter-puncher if he employs this method and hopefully for him land his punches at a higher rate like Katisidis effectively did but with the vaunted Pacquaio Power.

Just fight him inside, telephone-booth style with haymakers....and and don't jump in and out Manny. I see you finishing Juan early in the fight.

    YOUR THOUGHTS?

But they tried to do that in their last fight. They even demonstrated it on national broadcast. Marquez' natural style can effectively nullify a jumping Pac.

I agree it's a bit late to change his style entirely for a Marquez fight at this point of his career. But notice Pacquiao does this in moments he had Erik Morales in the ropes or when he wanted to finish and effectively finished off Hector Velasquez. He employed standing in front of the opponent and just threw haymakers till the opponent submitted and sat down.

would certainly make a firework filled 4th installment

i mean it might work but its not his style

i will say no matter what the popular opinion may be officially he is 2-0-1, which leads me to believe it is Juan not him who needs to do something different

Though it would be in Manny's best interest to do something to make this fight easier than the first 3

i dont know if a pitched battle is really what he needs, he would be giving Marquez an easier chance at hitting him as Juan in the 2 wars he had with Diaz and Katsidis saw struggles and one knockdown but he eventually war these guys down toe to toe and uppercutted them big time

i think it would be interesting to make Juan lead and to counter Juan though common wisdom would say for Pac to get the nod again like he did in the 2 fights and settled for the draw he has to be a busy whirlwind out work and out flash Juan

Pacquiao isn't really known for his ability to cut the ring off, if he was fighting flat footed and wasn't able to cut fhe ring off Marquez will have and easier time as his lateral movement will win him the fight.

Yes we know Manny won. He did anyway in my cards. But Manny is Manny. We hold him in a different standard. For Manny to "win" in the Manny standards the boxing world awaits, he needs to KO Juan. :good

I agree. But you cannot counter a master counter-puncher right?

You need a One Punch KO :good

i think you can counter a master counter puncher, i mean isnt his job to counter, if you make the master counter puncher lead he is out of his comfort zone

i dont think Manny has the patience to do it to Juan and i think Juan would be willing to wait and take booing rather than get stupidly aggressive

I agree. He had a difficult time cutting Cotto during the last rounds. Even against Bradley.

But thing is, like in the Katsidis vs Marquez fight, if Pacquiao corners Marquez in the ropes, let it all go till Kingdom Come.

Yes, the challenge here is if he can effectively trap Marquez on the ropes. I'd say just bully, wrestle and push him towards the ropes and close the gap at once, when Marquez backs into the ropes.

Easier said, but definitely doable. :good

If Manny employs the same tactics as Katsidis he puts himself at a higher risk of getting stopped, JMM would figure out what Manny is trying to do pretty quickly and pepper him with uppercuts until Manny reverted to his usual style or lose motivation after getting his face busted open, I have respect for both fighters but if they both show up with the same mindset as last time then JMM wins or gets robbed and even if Manny does hurt JMM he should be able to recover because he does have a great ability to recover and then win fights.

    Just several factors to consider.

I have never seen Pacquiao changing his style. That's why JMM knew well how to deal with it.

Pac isn't an infighter. He's at his best at mid-range. Marquez might actually be better at close range, because he can bend to the side and shoot uppercuts and straight shots. He does a lot more ducking and swivelling than Pac on the inside, making him harder to hit. He might also have better, more accurate combinations than Pac on the inside too.

    His inside work against Katsidis:

The problem Pac has is that Marquez neutralises him at range by constantly moving and turning, ducking under his straight left and coming up with counters, and on the inside he's actually more comfortable than Pac. It's a tough style match up, and always will be.

I have no idea why Pac's team would actually let him fight Marquez four times. It's crazy, considering the difficulties and frustration he always experiences.

I don't know what you saw in the Marquez vs Katsidis fight, but that approach isn't any help or even worth mentioning. Not with Pacquiao in mind, anyway.
Katsidis was "punishing" Marquez as hard as Zelenoff did Mayweather Sr.

    :deal

"Flat-footedness" isn't even what gave Katsidis any success, that's a silly notion. All that would do is make it easier for JMM to turn him. If Pac is going to do anything to JMM, he has to feint and get the angle on him, and mix up his attack to trigger JMM and catch him in an exchange with something hard. Given the patience JMM showed in the last fight, assuming he doesn't get reckless, it's not likely that occurs.

Pac must go all out turn up the heat and hope he gets a lucky punch like pt. 2 but this time hopefully Marquez aged enough to keep him down or recuperate slower to finish him off, Pac ain't gonna win impressively with a tight guard and trying to outsmart a incredibly smart fighter the mental IQ is to immense, Pac must drop his shield and go all out agressive frenzy!
