With all that's been done and said in the last 4-5 days, it's quite obvious that Pacquiao is backed by a majority of people. He would now officially have the world on his side March 13th if he simply decides to take the random blood tests and get it on. On the other hand, I think win or lose in the fight, Mayweather would have reached a point of no return in people's minds... This drug episode has hurt Mayweather's reputation much more than his team ever could have imagined..
But Pac is really willing to take the blood test. I don't know why it doesn't get into people's mind that what Pac's camp doesn't want is the timing of the test. Olympic style testing means he can theoretically be tested on the fight day itself or one day before the fight. If they were only assured by the testing agency that they can guarantee that there will be no test so near to the fight, then there would have been no problem. But the testing agency said they cannot guarantee that they will not get a blood test one day before the fight or on the fight day itself. That caused all this problem.
It's Pac's reputation at stake here, not Floyd's. That much is obvious by reading the media, the internet and message boards. From today: It appears the Floyd Mayweather Camp is open to a compromise on their demand of random blood testing. As long as theres a blood test, as long as theres a urine test and as long as its random, a cutoff date is agreeable to us, Mayweathers representative Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions told the LA Times Saturday. Meanwhile, Pacquiao wrote on his blog I am still willing to Fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. I never said the fight was off or I do not want to fight him. I will fight anyone at anytime and my record and past fights prove that. I have never and will never dodge anyone. These are my specifications for this fight regarding blood testing. I have offered to give a blood sample the day of the announcement of the fight at the press [conference]. I have offered to give a blood sample 30 days before the fight. I am willing to give blood immediately after the fight is over inside my dressing room . I am also willing to give urine tests at anytime any where everyday leading up to the fight. The truth is taking blood out of my body does not seem natural to me and mentally I feel it will weaken me if blood is taken from me just days before the fight. That does not make sense to me why anyone would do that. Coming from Pac himself, he has only agreed to a test 30 days before the fight and after. Not really agreeing, especially when his own trainer mentions 3, 5 and 7 days.
At this stage of the controversy, I think it's pretty clear that there wouldn't be any tests done fight day, the day of the weigh-in or 72 hours prior to fight time for that matter. The point is, Pacquiao already won in the hearts and minds of most and if he steps over his fears, pride and / or superstitions, he will become the only true winner after March 13th ! Just let Mayweather act and look like a little scared ***** and take the damn tests for the sake of boxing's shaky popularity and its fans.
