Pacquiao still ahead of everyone since Hearns & Duran in terms of ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Just in case the haters are forgetting this, but in terms of cold hard accomplishments and not mere subjective opinion, Pacquiao is clearly ahead of Mayweather, Marquez, Hopkins, Jones Jr, De La Hoya, Chavez, Whitaker, and everyone else, going back to both Tommy Hearns and Roberto Duran, who had comparable if not superior achievements in boxing. I'm not being so ridiculous as to suggest Pacquiao had better abilities than an all-time elite like Sweet Pea (he didn't), but Manny's accomplishments stand aloft above anyone from this era or the previous era, and this must be respected:

    - World titles in 8 weight classes - a sensational feat even if people work hard to downplay aspects of it

    - A guy who beat the best flyweight in the world to win the flyweight title (Sasakul) and who beat one of the top two welterweights in the world to win the welterweight title (Cotto) - has anyone ever done anything to match this in terms of the weight scaled and the quality of opponent beaten?

    - Wins over two prime ATGs at a good weight for them: Barrera in 2003, Marquez in 2008. By comparison, Jones Jr has one (Toney), Hopkins has one (Trinidad), Mayweather has none. (and this excluding what may be Pac's best win/performance all things considered, moving up to dominate and stop Cotto)

    - Official Fighter Of The Decade 2000-2009, three-time Fighter Of The Year (06, 08, 09), 4-division lineal champion

I mean you could go on and write an infinite number of other factors, eg...

    - Great longevity - Pac won first major world title in Dec 1998, still a world-class fighter approaching 2013

    - One of the strongest resumes of the past 20 years (Marquez x2, Morales x2, Barrera x2, Cotto, De La Hoya, Hatton, Margarito, Mosley, Clottey, Ledwaba, Sasakul, etc, obviously Bradley too although not on paper)

    - Long-reigning world p4p#1, 2008-2012

...but I'll leave people to focus only on the factors in bold. I say that no-one since Hearns or Duran has an objective list of accomplishments to touch Pacquiao's. The haters may twist the facts of his list, but I doubt I will see a better one for anyone else.

But all he'll be remembered for is for getting ko'd by a 40 yr old Mexican, the only great fighter he faced that wasn't past his best days. Oh my bad, actually he WAS past his best days too and Pacman still lost. He lost BIG, epic BIG. Nobody cares about Sasakul and Marquez already proved Manny's wins at 147 were flukes. KO OF THE DECADE MARQUEZ KO6 PACQUIAO.

Funny how pinoy *******s count 8 divisions titles when it's really 7 divisions.
Who here counts the I.B.O. As a legitimate title????????

 He won the official Fighter Of The Decade award for 2000-2009, and is the only 8-division champion in boxing history you fool. He won't be remembered for getting KO'd any more than Duran is remembered for getting KTFO by Hearns. I don't think they are going to erase the FOTD 00-09 out of the record books now because he lost a fight.

Laughable. Barrera in '03 was in the middle of the best run of his career, and achieved great wins/performances after that fight.

Pac beat him in '08 at a weight they were both comfortable at when both were closer to their prime. Another fail of a point.

Boxing historians do. Fanboy morons with no knowledge like you don't.

This makes no sense whatsoever. :patsch

 KO of the Decade, in '12? There's another seven years yet fool. Mayweather was given spaghetti legs by old toothless Shane a couple of years back, it's not inconceivable a PED-driven opponent could finish him off someday soon. Don't shoot your load too early son.

pac didnt stop being an atg because he just got beat by another great fighter. the man has been a part time boxer for about as long as he has been past his prime. doesnt change the fact that he accomplished what all these fools saying he aint **** swore he couldnt do just a few years ago. they can pick through and try to diminish all he accomplished, but fact is, he did it when all the so called experts said he couldnt.
still, its kind of obvious youre a fanboy.

    Did you read the post?

In terms of ability, Whitaker is way ahead of Pacquiao.

In terms of accomplishments, Pacquiao is clearly ahead of Whitaker.

Overall, I rank Whitaker higher, but as you would know if you'd bothered to read the post, this thread is on accomplishments only.

Titles today don't hold the same value they did in the past, hell, they don't hold the same value they did in the 90's.

    Diamond belt? WTF?

Good points but Pac's best and legitimate win was against Barrera. His other accomplishments all need asterisks next to them---catchweight, hype over beating old names, BS division titles, etc.
