Pacquiao still ahead of everyone since Hearns & Duran in terms of ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Manila, Dec 24, 2012.

  1. When those accomplishments come from gift fights, then they don't matter a bit.

Pea unified the lw divsion and then beat the best ww in the world before defending multiple times. He also picked up titles at lww and lmw.

He schooled Chavez in a better performance than any of Pac's career.

He spent nigh on a decade as the best boxer in the world.

    as I said before

    @ Pac > Pea

Pacquiao was the benefactor of a shady promoter, and fighting fighters towards the end of their careers.

Pac's greatest win is against an aging Barrera.

But if you take his other "GREAT" wins, you'll see a common denominator.

    -130- Gift draw vs JMM.

-When he beat Morales, Morales had just lost to Zahir Raheem (in Pac's defense, Morales had beat him a fight prior, so it was justifiable, but not as good a win with Morales having recently lost to an old MAB and Raheem).

-When he picked up the 135 strap, he did it against the WEAKEST titlist, there who got the strap in a controversial win vs an even older Morales than the one Pac beat the first time. Avoided the real 135 champion(s).

-At 140 it was most logical fight, but it's not like he beat the same Hatton Mayweather destroyed. By the time Pac fought Hatton, Hattonwas just a decent champion, nothing remotely close to what Tszyu faced. Hatton was nealy KO by Collazo and Lazcano (saved by ref) and destroyed by Mayweather before Pac tapped his ass.

-147 He fought a shot weight drained ODLH. He would be foolish to pass up a mega fight like that, but legacy wise I can't see how beating up an old shot ATG can do much for his legacy.

-147 Clottey was obviously paid off and now is hush hush.

-147 made Cotto who had previously looked like **** against Clottey and was destroyed brutally by Margarito come in at 145. What was the point of that? Obviously to weight drain him.

-147 Mosley was shot and had been previously dominated by Mayweather and looked like complete **** against Mora...Outside of it being a money fight, it wasn't anything else.

-150, fought for the Jr.MW strap against Margarito. Margarito wasn't even ranked, and Pac had never fought at Jr.MW and there was a limit of 150 for the 154 strap... The entore thing was a farce, fake, and a joke.

Most of his biggest wins were against fighters who were recently battered or KO.

Dude, why do you guys talk so much ****? :D

there are so many different measures to consider accomplishments, if you narrow it down to what Manny has done :patsch. I love manny but you guys are so far up his ass it makes me want to puke. When y'all talk this it is going to drive fans away from Pac like it did with Calslappy and the K-sister . . . if it hasnt already

    Ring Magazine counts though ;)

You can try to question the 154lbs belt which I would highly agree
but 140lbs title is a definite in legitimacy

No hate for Pac he is a great fighter, humble man and always in a exciting fight. That being said he should have at least 3 loses to marquez if not four and he lost to and beat a shot Morales, Using Catchweights to drain Cotto and De la hoya dont help his case at 147 either. Still goes down as the 2nd greatest of this era a HOFer and an Atg and thats nothing to be ashamed of.

Roy Jones started at 156 and won titles at 160, 168, 175 and heavyweight...that's more impressive.plus PAC fought unranked Margarito for a belt at 150. Also Jones beat more champions defended his titles more etc....also look at when PAC beats his opponent...Jones was clearly the best of his era...PAC never was....he may be the most popular most belief not most accomplished....Ricardo Lopez retired undefeated and defended his titles over 3 dozen times, PAC man is great one of my favorites you overrated him
