This content is protected WORLD lightweight champion David Diaz is just waiting for Manny Pacquiao to sign the dotted line. In an interview with DZSRs Sports Chat Tuesday morning, Diaz said everything he has already accepted the contract terms of his awaited battle against Pacquiao tentatively set on June 28 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 31-year-old Diaz (34-1-1, 17 KOs) will stake his World Boxing Council (WBC) lightweight crown which he already successfully defended once against Mexican icon Erik Morales. He won the interim crown by stopping highly-favored Jose Armando Sta. Cruz in the 10th round August of 2006 then cemented his claim to the regular title by scoring that win over Morales. A southpaw like Pacquiao, Diaz know the importance of this bout as a win against the Filipino superstar will almost certainly give him the respect hes been longing for. I think Diaz is too slow but if he can't land his powershots on Pacman he may take Pac out. Pac hasn't fought anyone as powerful or strong as Diaz in his career. Diaz is limited but he can certainly bang (my card had Morales beating David BUT David really hurt Morales in the late rounds)
No way does Diaz win. It will be a boring fight by Pacquiao standards. If he just boxes the same way he did against Barerra or for the first 5 rounds against Solis, he should get pretty close to a unanimous decision. I don't care if Diaz is bigger - he just can't deal with Manny's quickness as long as Manny stays on the outside.
