400,000 buys at $75 each is $30 million. If that's the "little, but not much" part ... where is the bigger cut than $30 million coming from, exactly?

people are desperate. I am not sure that means boxing or Manny is back. Too much about money today.

Go ahead, do the math and prove the numbers are bad.

400,000 is damn good, especially with the general state of boxing these days. Guys saying terrible numbers...what the hell did u expect? I certainly didn't expect 400,000.

What are you on about? How many times have you heard “this needs to be PPV to pay the fighters what they want to make this happen”. Are they telling me that money from PPV represents “a little” ?

The days of 2mil buys are long gone. Boxing is dead after the IV fiasco ppl, get over it. 200K is the new avg.

450K is a very good number considering...
    • It was in January (many people already blew their savings on holiday travel and X-mas presents)
    • It featured NO Mexicans and had Jack, Warren, Browne, and some French dude
    • 300K — 600K is like the norm for A-Level Name Vs. Mediocre-Good Fighter (Mayweather-Berto, Mexican Beef Vs. Beefy Smith)

Ruiz and Guevara are both Mexican. Of course, I don't think their presence would have moved the needle that much, if at all.
Otherwise, I think your point stands.

Pretty decent numbers given that it was in January (not typically a month PPV's are on), and a lack of a high profile fighter on the undercard.

The network gets half of the 30 million automatically. The other 15 is left for promoters and fighters!!! Don’t drink the coolaid!! The were expecting 609k+ ! Although it’s not a disaster it’s not a success or good numbers more like mediocre to average!

What KoolAid? The guy said PPV numbers are small potatoes and that it's about money. And I asked him where was the money outside of PPV?

    That's all I was asking.

And, of course he said nothing.

Is this “expecting 600k” in the same way wilder was expecting over a million? Over 400k is very good.

I dont know what the going rate is for Manny fights in the US but it sounds from the tone in here that its not bad for him. I know Broner gets alot of hate but he does get alot of love from the casuals. I cant remember ever grumbling about a fight he was in and i like his style, i think he is wasting most of his talent with his style but i dont care so if he wants to lean back and throw counter bombs all night that suits me just fine. I certainly enjoyed the fight but it was painful listening to Broner post fight.

I don't care about ppv amounts. Fans care about that then they pay 75 dollars for a fighter like Broner? I remember fights on regular television. Good championship fights with quality announcers for free. The networks paid to get the people to watch, and boxing was thriving. Young men saw it as a great sport to be in and we had great fighters in all divisions. Look at the 1980s and every division. We had a legend in most of them. I am also surprised how younger fans don't seem to see how catchweights are hurting the sport. They diminish the titles, and titles are important no matter what anyone says. Give a man a title and he is automatically a better fighter just defending it. Fighters were always paid, they don't need to be on PPV or get high numbers to get paid. That is the promotions selling that nonsense so people buy it. The Promoters can pay the fighters more if they want, but they are selfish and want that money in their pocket.
