Just a quick thought on the Pacquiao Cotto fight. It was at 145lb - Cotto has since been up to 155lb. Is it a good win for Pacquiao or did the weight play a big factor?

From my own personal viewpoint, Cotto looked in extremely good shape until the 2nd knockdown, we've seen how getting hurt can completely change the course of the fight?

So...good win - or weight drained Cotto? or somewhere in the middle?

Weight played a factor.. Problem is Pac can't go up to 154.

It's diminished but not undermined. A good win that would have been even more impressive had the A-side not used his status to play weight games, just like Mayweather-Alvarez and Ward-Dawson.

The CW was more than fair to Cotto considering Pacquiao was basically a lightweight at the time (and still is actually).

    Pac: 145 rehydrating to 148ish.
    Cotto: 145 rehydrating to 160ish

It was bad enough Cotto could barely make 147. He said so himself. But Manny drained him TWO more pounds to a catchweight of 145!

Remember all the Drainelo remarks at 152 instead of 154? TWO pounds. MarkQ remembers! :yep:yep:yep

He could BARELY make 147 yet he was 146 in last fight against Clottey? Makes sense Markq.

    Cotto barely beat Clottey
    Pacquiao blasted Clottey
Cotto lost to Margarito and struggled with 1 eye Marg
    Pacquiao blasted Margarito

Anyone really think 2 lbs was the difference? Pacquiao just better fighter. Was obvious if you opened your eyes 14th Nov 2009.

I think the crowning jewel of his career is still Barrera I.

Pac was still very green, coming up in weight to fight a guy that was acknowledged as being the best in the sport at the time alongside bHop and RJJ.

Definitely Barrera I. I have no problem giving him credit for that. GREAT WIN. His other notable wins were against damaged goods and/or at catchweights.

Bradley II was a another top one. Brad wasn't damaged goods or at a CW.
