Hopkins had every negotiating advantage- his turf, his ref, his weight, and 3 American judges. Funnily enough, Chuck Giampa was one of the most respected judges in the business before he retired to run a boxing consulting company with over 120 title fights, and he scored the fight the widest for Calzaghe. You can see his record of scoring fights here. Another recent fight of his was scoring Mayweather-Oscar 8-4 Floyd : http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=400953&cat=judge Hops lost. Instead of getting mad at Calzaghe, maybe people should be mad Hopkins couldn't go 12 hard rounds with him and didn't throw more.
SPEAK THE TRUTH!! and yes I really hope Pacquiao vs.mayweather doesnt end up like Calzaghe vs.Hopkins..I think I speak for everybody when I say we all tired of robberies
Hop won that fight clearly. Sit down and count meaningful punches per round, and it's clear as day. 7-5 or 8-4 are both fair scores for Hop. There are similarities between the two fights: Manny will be the crowd favourite, and every grazing punch will cause the crowd to erupt. Meanwhile Mayweather's more accurate, but fewer, punches will receive no recognition. Just like Hopkins, Mayweather is a defensive master who will struggle to time his opponent because of his high volume and unpredictable angles. Mayweather won't gas, but he will expend a lot of mental energy the way Hopkins did in trying to figure out his opponent. SD Pacquiao sounds about accurate.
