My problem was that you said they are not comparable. Any reasonable person would admith they are.

Was Cotto ever the undisputed Welterweight Champion of the world? You try to take away from it but you can't. It is an achievement that every boxer should look to obtain, Being the best fighter in you division. Corrales at one point was the best 135 pounder in the world. Nothing you post changes that, nor the record books.

:patsch Yes, because a poll on the General Forum of ESB is THE way to find the perfect answer to all/any boxing question!

Most of them, like you, won't even have heard of Jackson or Castro.

Who has said it wasn't? :huh

Again though, I do not see any relevance at all to who is greater between Cotto and Corrales.

It is one of the greatest fights and one of the greatest comebacks. No-one has ever said any different.

It's still thoroughly irrelevant to the discussion though.

Boxing isn't only about belts, it's about resume, it's about the fighters you fight and the fighters you beat. Miguel Cotto beat Shane Mosley. That counts for more than Carlos Baldomir winning the linear championship from Zab Judah, because it's about who you beat.

That's what boxing is all about :smoke

Thanks! As much as I love boxing, it's getting harder and harder to do so.

But at one point Carlos Baldomir held the ww title, in a division that had Floyd Mayweather, Shane Mosley, Paul Williams, Antonio Margarito, Miguel Cotto, Joshua Clottey and Andre Berto in it.

Was Baldomir the best fighter in that division? Nope.

It's a paper achievement. WHO you beat is more important than what title you hold. That's what boxing is all about. :smoke

Cotto. simply because of the class of the opponent. no doubt gatti was finished by the time he fought Floyd.

    Definitely Pac's win over cotto.

I'm with ya here Lance, the **** is getting shameful & embarassing!! There's more belts now than you can count!! Catchweights for titles for opponents that don't deserve it. Champs rarely fighting the other champs! Different states w/different rules! Bought rankimgs and the list goes on!!

I love this sport but it's getting hard!! :-(

And also because Cotto was the bigger fighter. Gatti is a blood and guts warrior, but Cotto is a better technician.

You see this is where you get things twisted with your arrogance. Of course beating Zab Judah for the Undisputed Welterweight Championship counts more then Cotto beating Shane Mosley at the time.

You know sometimes "the best looking team" or "#1 ranked team doesn't win the Superbowl. But it doesn't mean you get to disregard there win. Your opinion means **** b/c it has no structure.

Your out of your mind. So when an underdog wins a Championship it's a paper achivement. In all sports the number 1 ranked team with all the best stats doesn't always win the Championship kid.

In making your point you do realize that Baldomir beat the WW Champ & #1 guy in the division at that time too!! :deal He was no paper champion he was the recognized Champion!! Can't take that away no matter how you try & twist it!! :nono
