Just to provide some perspective -- 10 years ago on April 24, 1999 -- a 20 year old Manny Pacquiao won the WBC Flyweight title.

He weighed in at 111 3/4 lbs.

What he did last Saturday by destroying a beast at 140 is phenomenal.

Hatton (45-1 32 KO's) had never lost at jr. welterweight.

Is Pacquiao's accomplishment greater than Ali's KO over Foreman in the Rumble in the Jungle?

    Of course it is.
    Without question.

I would agree given everything PAC has had to do in order to get to 140......but Big George was undefeated and an absolute monster! Many will feel differently about which win was greater.

Pacquio is the man right now so if anyone has to give a little it should be Cotto moving down.

Let's take a closer look at that.

People at the time felt that Foreman/Ali was a mismatch because of Foreman's power and undefeated record.

However, the lightning-quick Ali (44-2 at the time) was an Olympic gold medalist and the most supremely athletic heavyweight of all time.

Foreman was a dangerous puncher, no doubt -- but, he was also slow, lumbering, and plodding, and lacked some basic boxing skills.

So the mismatch that all the films and documentaries propagate wasn't really a mismatch.

Most importantly, though, is that both Ali and Foreman were heavyweights!

Both began their pro careers as heavyweights.

On the other hand, Hatton's first fight was at 140.

Pacquiao's first fight was at 106.

Yet Pacquiao obliterated Hatton in just two rounds.

Ali was great, but Pacquiao is greater.
